My daughters play FFXIV and I have tried. I hate the story and the game mechanics. But I easily can spend $100 a month on transmogs.
GW2 I have played for years and have a bunch of max geared characters. WvW is ok but it’s too easy to win trade. The game is kind of boring. And I spend most of my real money on transmogs.
WoW can’t seem to wean itself from grinds and borrowed power and exploits and unbalancing itself. But at least transmogs are free.
At least this time you can get them from random BGs, so you don’t have to do all the PvE.
…And the new zone is pretty cool ngl.
Yeah, this system is actually not bad for PvPers. You do need to do about an hour of questing on one character to open the zone up for the free spark but after that that quest is available to all alts and you can get the sparks from doing the weekly PvP quests instead of the weekly rep thing in the new zone. Really easy to get done.

At worst you only have to do the campaign to the main mole town once. After that you can just win epic BGs for the trophies of conquest and one splintered spark of shadowflame. The quest to get two for one is available without having to do the campaign.
So, it can basically be done with just pvp only, at least for alts.
For the same reason you were able to get honor gear in the first two weeks of Dragonflight before the season started.
Really? I thought the weekly quest varied between different PvP objectives?
It seems that you will be able to get a splintered spark of shadowflame from completing one of the two pvp weely quests (this week happens to be epic bgs or arena) or from doing the pve weekly aiding the moles reputation quest.
This week there is a one time only quest that allows you to trade one splintered spark for two, which can be combined into a spark of shadowflame (required to craft a 450 pvp item).
After that you will only be able to get one splintered spark per week, so one full spark of shadowflame every two weeks.
There is a catchup system if you fall behind.

[edit] Figured out the splinter of shadowflame went into my bag without noticing it, lol. Now i need to find the quest that lets you trade one for two.
