I’ve never played a Dark Souls game but as you said, Elden Ring caught my eye. Most definitely looks like an interesting and fun game that for sure I’m getting. As far as this being a “WoW Killer”, I doubt it. Blizzard just picked a bad time to release 9.2.
I always thought “Elder Ring” was a Skyrim game.
You don’t know what the most anticipated title of the year is? I have no plans to play it, but it’s huge
Very excited for Elden Ring, taking a few days off work to dig in. Also will be playing 9.2.
If only there was no shortage of components and graphics cards were not so expensive I would agree with you.
Probably the same crowd who always feel like they should resub for each patch. Then, gradually start to unsub again.
Stoked! Don’t think Elden Ring is going to be impacting WoW though, if that’s what you mean. Just another game, and there are a lot of really good looking ones lined up for this year.
could be game of the year, but I’m skeptical on that one no matter how good it is. there is a lot of game politics when it comes to GOTY. from gameplay to story messages.
I think it’s likely I will be playing elden ring when it releases and putting WoW on the back burner for a bit, but we will see. Looks interesting and hopefully plays well.
It would be the first new rpg I’ve played since getting into WoW a few years back. This game has sucked up most of the time I set aside for gaming - and a lot I haven’t.
I gave it a Google lol looks cool but never heard of it before today
Glad to see GRRM is part of it though he’s a big brain
Yeah, I’m not a big fan of singleplayer games, I have too much difficulty staying focused. But it seems pretty cool and looks like it’ll be fun for the people looking for a game like that.
Did you try Sekiro? I couldn’t get through any dark souls or bloodborne but that one is such a blast and it’s very different from the others, it just clicked for me even though I have a similiar issue to you when playing single player games
I think it will bring back some, but not many. It would take an expansion release that goes well for something like that probably.
I will say the resilience of wow and the players is impressive. So many other mmos have disintegrated but we’re still here.
Also Elden ring looks fun and I’ll definitely play. But isn’t it like more of an rpg and not an mmo? Not a huge fan of single player games. I feel like they have no replay ability (for me)
I have not tried Sekiro, I was thinking about it, but I’m just busy with school/work, only have time for a game or two
Against all common sense, I took time off for Elden Ring. The way I see it if something happens and I don’t get my game in the mail on time, I have 9.2 to keep me entertained.
I wasn’t as captivated by Dark Souls, but I went off the deep end for Bloodborne, platt’ed it last October, and got about halfway into Sekiro. Sucks that I didn’t finish Sekiro, but I wanted a bit of a FromSoft break, and at this point I don’t want to get the Sekiro muscle memory back to only lose it when I start Elden Ring.
It’s a new patch so yeah it’ll rejuvenate WoW for awhile. I don’t think a major amount of people will return, but some might. The ones who seriously left over SL will probably just be waiting for the next expansion.
Elden Ring I’m excited for! I actually have very little idea what to expect from this game. Only read the description and watched trailers. But it looks really interesting and seems to be pretty hyped so I’m going to go in blind and hopefully enjoy it. If anything I just want to see the story. The trailers made it look so cool, I want to read more.
As far as Elden Ring, game looks pretty cool. I haven’t played any Souls games since literally Demons’ Souls because that game was “fake hard” and wasn’t interested in a sequel in that same vein
I’m wondering what you mean by “fake hard?” I’ve never played Demons’ Souls, but I often say the same thing about Dark Souls 1 & 3.
but Elden Ring looks pretty cool and looks to have a greater focus on open-world and combat, rather than trolling traps and labyrinthine level design.
I have a feeling I’m going to be missing that level design in Elden Ring. The gameplay I’ve seen streamed seems to me kind of sparse and lacking in that oppressive immediacy of SoulsBourne games when shifted to an overworld.
EDIT: In response to the OP, I grudgingly renewed my sub for a second month to have a look at 9.2, but I doubt I’ll stick around past that. I did purchase Elden Ring for myself and a couple friends at Christmas. Barring its being awful, I’ll likely be playing it.
I know about 10 people coming back for 9.2 to raid. Multiply my experience by the 1 million people still playing and we have 10,000,000 coming back.
Looks up from PC and gives the thumbs up
Elden Ring… generic ARPG. There are a million already.
If only there was no shortage of components and graphics cards were not so expensive I would agree with you.
I hear you. I finally got my hands on a PS5 this past weekend. My PC couldn’t handle Elden Ring though.
I am a huge souls fan and have already unsubbed for elden ring.
9.2 will bring people for few weeks and die off again.
