100% not cool at all. So what about void elves/blood elves with Thalassian? Pandas? Demon Hunters? Mages with the multi-language glyph that pick Thalassian? Are they going to suddenly change all of that too? This is ridiculous. Cross faction RP isn’t terrible, and I’m honestly sick of them dancing around this.
We can put trolls and griefers on ignore or report them, just like we do on our own faction. Allowing us to roleplay with others will not be the end of the world, rather, it will enhance roleplay and storylines. If someone wants to troll, they’re going to do it. Faction barrier or not. They’ll log into a different toon on your faction and do so, that’s how trolls work. And you can’t block that other than to use the functions WE ALREADY HAVE which don’t require the barrier.
Enough of this nonsense, enough of this silence, let us communicate cross faction at least on roleplay realms, please. It’s beyond time to allow it at this point, and this change hurts an already struggling expansion.
It still points to the conclusion that breaking Communities from being read by Addons was not accidental, but entirely intentional, and furthermore, specifically targeting Cross-RP.
while I’m glad you can translate this, somehow I think blizzs corprate side is going to show and they’ll claim this addon, THAT EARLIER THIS YEAR THEY SAID WAS FINE TO USE, is now suddenly against the rules.
Of course they will, because that’s what Blizzard does. Unfortunately, CrossRP isn’t the only add-on that’s been sacked by Blizzard covering their butts. To my knowledge, some of XRP was also shut down because of something similar long before communities were a thing.
And if they do that, then the community would RIGHTLY meltdown in a sea of anger. Blizz has been getting pretty much all legitimate, polite, and constructive feedback in this thread. They have said before that is what they want. If they continue to ignore this (we are at over 500 posts now…) or now go and say their newly added provision they added after the fact makes this addon against the ToS after all this positive feedback… then Blizz-Activision will have EARNED their Scum of the Earth achievement and will deserve all the blow-back they get.
high five I’ve said this every time someone tells me faction communication barriers need to be in place. They always say people will trash talk. Uh, are you serious? I’ve been called every slur in the book in random BGs, and those guys were all on my faction.
If they won’t make the game’s content fun, then at least let us RPers make our fun.
Please fix cross-RP, it is a god send for those who want to interact with our friends on the other side and build storylines for our characters. Also the big events, think of the big events!
Yeah and really most of the cross-faction trash talk would only occur because someone’s upset they lost in PvP. Because realistically, it’s the only cross-faction competitive gameplay.
In literally every other form of gameplay, you’re only working with your own faction. The other doesn’t matter at all.
So if there’s someone having a temper tantrum, who do they take it out on?
Why should they reply? They don’t want the two factions talking to each other. Coming in with any sized blue post just to reinforce that design decision wouldn’t do them any favors. It’s probably their best bet to let this burn out on its own and fade away.
I wouldn’t give up hope, though. Keep being positive, but most importantly, just don’t let it go until there’s some kind of response from someone somewhere. Being a squeaky wheel is the only way to get any grease, as they say.
What’s more is that cross-faction communication is baked right into the game. Even ignoring races/classes that share languages across factions, there’s nothing blocking you from accessing a cross-faction community in-game. And for any purpose BUT RP that’s superior to using /say and /emotes, because you probably don’t care about RP profiles or character names.
This is just literally nerfing an option that made the communication that’s-- I repeat-- still possible in-game and making it more immersive and fluid.
This was the best thing about Cross-RP and RP in general. It gave me a sense of AGENCY. Something that over time I feel is being lost more and more as time goes on in this game.
No matter how bad things get, RPers always find a way to make the game fun for themselves again. This add-on was one of those things keeping me hanging on.
Not trying to doubt you at all, but can you provide a link to the ToS document that you’re referring to? I’m trying to find it but it’s a pain in the behind to find. All I can find is the EULA but that just covers generic stuff and doesn’t even reference WoW, and basically says “If we don’t like it, we reserve the right to remove it.” -_-
I think this is something that should be something that is a unique perk with being on an RP server. It wouldn’t be hard to make an “Azerothian” that everyone can speak while keeping Common and Orcish as the faction locked languages. It is a shame this was patch it really gave you an amazing feeling of community when you used it.
“For World of Warcraft specifically, allowing players who are playing characters aligned with the “Alliance” faction to chat or otherwise communicate directly with players who are playing characters aligned with the “Horde” faction, or vice versa.”
Now this document says that it was last updated Feb. 3, 2016, and they added this earlier today, then they’re lying right there. I wish I had a recent copy of the ToS to compare, or better yet, post a screenshot of.
This addon definitely made the first and only ToA I intended on going to an interesting experience. Hopefully something is done about this soon, because relying purely on btag/discord to RP cross faction is very clunky.
However, if you are horde and yell “ÇÈ ƒ ‚” it translates as “rekt”. My secret revealed.
That’s hella sleazy blizz, if they had just added that to the ToS after stating it was fine. So what of bnet whispers? What of Pandaren? Void elves? Demon hunters?
Damn killing all the fun out of this game.
