The old gods are back and causing all kinds of ruckus in Azeroth again. The Wardens start to have a significant presence in the story line and begin jailing different enemies from the void. To assist with this, they partner up with Demon Hunters.

Demon Hunters get a quest line where they can unlock Warden armor as they work on training with the Wardens.

Final raid boss the Titans beam down Illidan, who delivers the final blow to end expansion boss. Illidan is disappointed in the Demon Hunters, but understand why they partnered up with the Wardens. Final cinematic shows that we made an oopsie and now the void is flooding into Azeroth.

Illidan is not coming back, would make 0 sense hes in a box doing what he loves. This is about dragons and exploration not demons.
