This is my main. A pandaren brewmaster monk. I loved MoP, my favorite expansion! I rolled a pandaren just to let her quest in Pandaria. I never expected she’d become my Main. Why Pandaren? I loved the culture, music and the landscape in MoP. I find it beautiful and relaxing. Monk just seemed like the logical choice for class because of the training Temples and references to monks in game. Inspired by Chen Stormstout, I chose Brewmaster as my spec. Have never regretted my decision.

I’ve alwaya wondered if the general personalities of Rogue players would improve as a whole if they were given the tank spec.
As someone that only played Rogue from TBC until Shadowlands, I can say for sure they have a very isolationist playstyle, and not by choice.
In dungeons they’re just dps / cc bots, no communication required.
In rated/non-rated battlegrounds, it’s very rare we’re allowed to team fight, we’re often left to base sit or roam around the map solo for objectives.
Out in the world for PvP servers/Warmode, because of our stealth mechanic it’s actually discouraged to group up with other non-stealth classes, as they’re more of a liability than anything since we can escape danger easily but they cannot.
If we had a tank spec I feel it would diversify our rolls in instanced & world content, and overall give us more opportunities to be social.

Also, brewmaster tanking style really appealed to me. I always wanted to play an avoidance based tank, and brewmaster was the closest I could get to that fantasy-- purifying stagger feels a lot like avoiding damage to me! I love the mobility and everything. I’ve kind of been leaning away from the class in Shadowlands, but I’ll always love it.

Does monk get faster at higher level?
All the attacks & the movement speed feel so slow on WW.
I’m very used to playing Rogue/Warrior where I can zoom everywhere.
Monk brought a lot of what Rogue could have been, except without stealth.
Between two rolls (three and shorter cooldown if talent chosen), flying serpent kick, and the 10% all the time movement buff that also affects party, monk is significantly faster then warrior for general movement, if they are being used
Won’t compare to a 30%+ all the time movement buff and 1min dash cooldown like rogue though

I appreciate that Monk and Panda lore has mostly been ignored.
That’s good to know, I’ll just power out these low levels then. As long as it’s on par with Warrior I should be good.

Couple other fun tidbits to keep in mind as your leveling your monk, the zen pilgrimage to peak of serenity can be used as a very short cooldown return to org/stormwind for using the portal room to get to other places (I don’t remember if the default location has an Org/Stormwind portal, but when the legion monk classhall is unlocked, Zen Pilgrimage goes there and it does have portals)
Another is https://www.wowhead.com/item=136800/meditation-manual-zen-flight purchaseable from https://www.wowhead.com/npc=66356/master-hwang in said peak of serenity from Zen Pilgrimage. Which while being neat flavor wise (riding on a cloud), is more importantly an instant cast flight button.
It is slower then normal flyers, so would not replace those like druid flight form, but can be used for similar situations (need a quick getaway, instant fly and go. Falling from a tall height in a place you can fly, then instant fly and you stop falling, etc…)
You can also still mount while using it.
Transfer spirit is also pretty useful for mobility during fights.
Quaking palm and enhanced food buff must underrated racials in game
This is true, you can use the cloud to instant fly and get to a safe distance and then ‘mount’ a regular flying while on the cloud.
You can also do a number of ‘cast time’ actions you can’t normally do on a flyer as well, like fishing while flying on a cloud

I like to punch things. Especially if I eventually get to punch a god. And I like adorable things. Pandaren monk let’s me experience both at once. Have seen how our cheeks puff out when we swim?!

I like Draenei and Tauren monks because I’m pretty sure if one kicks you, you’ll die. Like getting kicked in the head by a horse.
