Blizzard: Creates Housing Cinematic.
Also Blizzard: Accidentally creates one of the best Ozzy Tributes.
You guys couldn’t have possibly picked a better song.
But, if you guys are going to play a song by OZZY called “Mama, I’m Coming Home” that portrays someone coming home in World of Warcraft, the game he played a warlock in (according to the WotLK commercial), then I hereby request an in-game memorial for OZZY in the form of him having his own house (preferably in the town center area) and that his toon (yes, the warlock used in the WotLK commercial) be present and seen.
If OZZY is coming home, then please Blizzard, make it happen.
P.S. it would be cool if when you talk to OZZY’s warlock that he offers an option to play the ‘Coming Home Cinematic’.
This is a slippery slope. Sure, we do it…but then when does it stop? Then people will continue requesting <wow streamer/famous person who once touched wow> memorial in housing and it never ends. Then it comes out said person did shady stuff they were hiding..and its the lawsuit censorship/removal all over again removing references to said people who did the bad thing, even in passing.
Not really a slippery slope. There are references and memorials all over the place in game if you know where to look for various celebrities. Even Robin Williams has one, for example. So…yeah. Ozzy wasn’t my favorite person but I’m not going to oppose some sort of reference or memorial for the guy in game. He was very influential on the rock/heavy metal scene and he did make good music.
Sure he was, I dont disagree with you there, but I looked up what Ectharienne said, and yeah…he was infact an abuser in the 1980s to women. Sol were going to make memorial dedications to someone who sang good but also abused multiple women? Why did he get a pass suddenly? He doesnt.
Its one thing to give a memorial for someone who did petty theft and then turned their life around, its another to give a ingame memorial to a woman abuser.
Everyone wants everyone remotely famous to have some in game tribute anymore.
It dilutes anything intended to bring meaningful about it,
So blizzard just make a regular recurring weekly feature - have your art department randomly pick any famous person from the world of sports music or film and just make something n game for them.
This way you can just say “yes we know” every time someone petitions for some celeb to be in the game.
Out of curiosity I decided to do a little digging. I always just thought he was really weird. Guess it went a bit deeper than that.
He was a remarkably weird and terrible person with an even worse upbringing. Not really any way to deny that. I honestly wasn’t aware of just how bad it was but Ozzy isn’t exactly on my list of favorite musicians either despite enjoying some of what he produced, so I’m not very knowledgeable.
He probably doesn’t deserve to be memorialized in WoW, especially considering Blizzard’s own past with abuse. They might be better off avoiding this one. I’m not afraid to admit when I’ve been proven wrong.
Didn’t all the celebs that did WoW commercials actually play the game? I know Aubrey Plaza and Milia Kunis both played, but perhaps some just did the commercial for payday.
Plaza and Kunis are probably the only ones, and even than probably not much.
I very much doubt Ozzy, Verne Troyer, Mista T, Steve Van Zant *cough* Oops shouldn’t have used his half-brother as a example *cough*, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, and William Shatner play WoW.
