Turns out people didnt want the harder version of Firelands after all, and all of these “A harder version Firelands will save Cata” folks were wrong.
The games lost more than half its player base since midway through T11.

People lost interest because there’s nothing else to do. T11 wasn’t anything special. It never was and never will be. Phase 1 lasted way too long.
Here’s the thing. Normal exists for a reason. If you clear normal then there’s a pretty high chance you can clear at least half of the firelands bosses because they’re not that difficult.
10 man is much easier even on heroic. So people can focus on 10 man as that seems to be the more popular raid size right now.

Heres the thing. Your server lost 25k+ people between the end of Wrath, and right now.
It also turns out that we can just play Retail, which pretty much solves every issue people complain about on these forums (except maybe feral dps in raids).
It also turns out a bunch of people did just that, and the Cata servers are ghost towns now compared to 6 months ago.

You have no actual idea what you’re talking about that the game would have less people if they released the post nerf version lol. People saw them post about releasing prenerf version, and didnt even bother coming back. Way more people would have came back, and be doing it.
Which is why the more successful versions of the game thus far have been easier. Like literally look to the past, and try to tell me otherwise. You cant without actively lying.

Nope - most people like using their brains and overcoming a challenge. Perhaps you don’t, perhaps you take the path of least resistance and would prefer to just have faceroll content, but don’t project that onto everyone else.
Correlation =/= causation - it’s helpful to think about things more deeply than on a superficial surface level.

Blizzard seems to be perfectly fine with the feedback they get from players like me, which is why they’re designing the game in a way that aligns with what I want—while you, on the other hand, are being ignored.
Buzzword alert! Nobody is trying to gatekeep content here lol. Making it so that you need to be engaged and actively participating during a raid to successfully complete it is not gatekeeping. If that’s an issue for you, Classic fresh is starting in a few days.

If you’re lucky you hobble across the finish line of Dragon Soul for the game to be entirely dead before MoP comes out.
This is entirely a population discussion here, and not a zomg I’m so leet at Firelands conversation. Which you cant seem to grasp. Probably that cognitive dissonance I was talking about. Maybe even Dunning Kruger effect.

Content being somewhat difficult is not gatekeeping.
If you want an easier game go play an easier game.

His, and others like it point of view is whats trying to gatekeep people. Not the actual content, or difficulty. So he can feel special and in some way superior. All while I still cleared everything before him, and you for that matter.
If you want a harder game go raid Mythic Retail at a world level. Wait you cant so you’re here doing solved 15 year old content.
I am content with the current difficulty.
And it will be nerfed after a few more lockouts. Blizzard already said this.
