Blizzard will allow X layers, which contain a maximum of Y Players.
Blizzard is estimating a player drop off of Z%.
At phase 2 layering goes away… SOOO:
If X * Y * Z is larger than 1 layer can handle then they will have to split the server up. This will cause MAJOR uproar in the community. Increasing the # of layers INCREASES the odds of this happening.
Here’s the thing: waiting until launch to create new servers is a serious mistake. Returning players will see a new server as a dead server- they’ll head to high pop servers because they’ve experienced that before.
If they add a new EST PVE server right now, people can start transferring over, making it at least medium by launch and a much more comfortable option for returning players scared of dead servers.
Do we? The update said to consider transfering if you were on a speciifc list of realms. Several hour long queues were for specific realms, what you’re saying is conjecture and doesn’t line up with what’s been explicitly stated. I.E. the PVE EST one’s wern’t listed, which would tend to imply they don’t think they are currently enough of an issue to warrant opening another realm for yet.
After the first week of people who took time off and people who just wanted to check it out drop off the queues will come down or disappear. This isn’t going to go on in perpetuity, and is relatively typical of content launches for populated servers. If you don’t have the time and can’t be bothered to stick around until after the dust settles then idk what to tell you.
I get you’re frustrated but I don’t think it’s fully warranted and that it’s letting yourself be frustrated for the sake of being frustrated. That being said I’m tapping out here, because the convo is just gunna keep going around in circles.
This is totally insane. Can’t believe there are people refusing to switch realms when Blizzard is literally telling them they might not even be able to get into the queue.
I would love to change to a lower populated realm but all of the PVE EST realms are full. at best I can go on a PvE Pacific realm but even they are at high population.
yea people are kind of ridiculous, i see most complaining that blizz is not explaining everything or answering there questions even though blizz has been transparent about everything since announcement. Guys just listen to the awesome people who are giving you this wonderful masterpiece of a game!!!
Even though I think the current name reservation and sever situations is akin to the night soil of a large male bovine, Classic is gong to be the Waterloo for Blizz. Whether they win or not is to be decided.
If Classic falls apart because of player drop off, Blizz gets to say " We said you didn’t want it and you didn’t. Look what happened when we gave in. " They can forever after blow off the WoW player base by trotting it out when players complain.
But, if Classic takes off and player/account/sub numbers stay good, then Blizz has to admit they have been pretty much wrong with the way they took Retail. Gee what if they launched a new Retail expansion and everyone was too busy playing Classic to notice?
Personally , I’m not sure if I would be re subbing for Classic if I didn’t have tokens on my bank alt in Retail. But I do and so I will. If I like Classic then my Retail account will just be a gold farm to buy tokens for classic.
You all know the saying, right? You catch more flies with honey than vinegar?
No need to be bashing Blizzard for doing their best on a game YOU WANT to play. Part of me would love if they’re like “You know what, you guys are ungrateful and we’re shutting this whole thing down.”
You don’t like the way things are being done? Go create your own game and run it how you want. Otherwise, stop your bellyaching and give them time. I thought most of us had grown up and learned to be respectful and patient, not a bunch of children throwing a temper tantrum because things aren’t the way you want them.
Blizzard has a method in mind. We just don’t know what it is. They read these forums. They can see which realms are full. They are waiting for a reason and it’s not to make life miserable for everyone. Let this play out for awhile - the game doesn’t start up for days yet.
(My pet conspiracy theory is that they are trying to break the back of the mega-guilds that came over from private servers. I bet people are already peeling off and finding homes elsewhere. Once the anxiety is at a fever pitch, they will throw in a couple more servers and groups will scatter.)
