Outlaw DF S2 tier set 4pc discussion

Not saying it isn’t. Hopefully this new one is a bigger damage increase. Has anyone done the math?

Simplicity sake’s math

2 PC
Single target
8 seconds of DPS at 50,000
dot ticks = 50,000 *.05 = 2500 DPS dot
total dot damage = 20,000
Dot is going to tick for 2500 DPS or 20k total damage.

Multi-target
No idea how it interacts with bladeflurry yet.

4PC
use the total damage for the dot
20,000 * 2 = 40,000 single target
Question of the day here: Does the 4 piece unleash cause a 2 piece dot?

Multiple target = who knows how much and the interactions. It’s going to be amazing if 2 piece works with bladeflurry.

The 4 piece seems horrendous in terms of the damage done on single target. The 7% agility buff is pretty strong

All bleeds are physical damage. No bleeds are reduced by armor. As long as its coded like a bleed it likely wont be reduced by armor because that would be double dipping armor.

The set bonuses seem pretty decent on paper. They arent on PTR so we cant playtest them yet and we dont have any info on how they are supposed to work. The two most likely outcomes I can see are these.

1: Soul rip is a single target dot caused by ALL damage you deal. Meaning BF damage counts towards it but it stacks up on one target. This would lead to a “funnel” style where 5% of all our BF damage is getting stacked up on your main target, which would be pretty strong.

2: Soul rip is simply a dot on anything you do damage to, including BF targets. Casting BtE consumes them all to “burst” their damage. This one seems like the most likely to me.

The important interactions that need testing (as some people have said) are whether or not damage procs/trinkets count towards it. Outlaw is a spec that tends to leverage big on use trinkets and damage procs.

Also whether or not the BtE damage that explodes the soul rend adds to a new soul rip effect or is calculated in the old soul rip before it bursts. Depending on this talents like imp BtE might not be very good because a majority of their soul rips damage value will have expired by the time you get to the next BtE cast.

Personally I think its a fine set. A bit boring, outlaws damage pattern is too flat for us to “abuse” the ignite like mechanic of 2set and stack up a big one to BtE off. Pretty much the only world where we can do something like this is if direct damage trinkets add to the DoT.

Indeed a lot of playtesting required before acknowledging how good it is.
Way too much room for speculation atm.

  1. doesn’t work with trinkets
  2. It’s currently doing 5% of damage done every SECOND for the 2 piece. I expected it to be over 8 seconds. kind of busted. [Bug]
  3. works with bladeflurry. Does not funnel.
  4. BTE pops all 2 piece on every mob
  5. soul reave does not apply the DOT back on targets that originally had a Dot
IE, bladeflurry two mobs and then cancel bladeflurry. Press BTE, 4 piece procs and then the previous two no longer have a dot.
  6. BTE damage is applied for a new DOT
  7. 4 piece does not stack the agility buff
  8. Seems to snapshot the damage on the target? Once you damage a target and walk away, it doesn’t lower without new damage instances. [Bug]
9 ) 4 piece is only doing damage based on the DOT tick, not the the entire amount of damage remaining [Bug]

It gets amped by prey on the weak as well. Seems only interacts with damage applied to the target.
not affected by haste or other stat buffs you gain. IE, bloodlust doesn’t help the already on the target dots.

It’s OP…end of. There is another, forgotten spec that needs the help in PVE.

now time to unprune killingspree, make it immune to stuns and any other ccs plz blizz

Our current tier bonus is all that’s keeping us from being completely irrelevant in pvp.

Big facts. With the Crit nerfs Outlaw gonna be Murloc.

RIP bugged tier set. Maybe it’ll be tuned correctly now.

or just move where improved BTW is, like maybe where precise cut is, or a more central location on the tree, maybe where float like a butterfly is currently. They should also make heavy hitter baseline (giving us 1 extra point) and make Count the Odds cost 1 point for its full benefit.

heavy hitter is optional, 10% damage to builders is hardly a must have, there are many other stuff that could be baseline aka roll the bones or blade flurry since its impossible to play the class without those.

Dont worry fam the 4set is still bugged (it does its damage based off 1 tick of the soulrip dot not the entire thing).

Will outlaw have a working set bonus to test a single time before ptr cycle is over?

This is just like the DF alpha/beta all over again. Rogue stuff is always the last thing to be developed or fixed.

I’m not even ruling out the possibility that the 4set won’t be fixed at all before 10.1 release. They still haven’t fixed the Nightstalker talent. Literally 2 wasted talent points and been that way since DF release.

Feels like rogue is always the lowest priority.

Our current tier set doesn’t even work, so… safe to assume… lol no.

Blizzard just over nerfed the two-set tier bonus for PvP on the PTR. Now Outlaw Rogue is beyond worthless.

From testing on the dummies, it doesn’t work in PVE right now either. The dot from the 2 set isn’t rolling over like it was before, it’s just doing 5% of the biggest hit you did in the past 8 seconds instead of stacking like ignite.

This makes the 2 set and 4 set do about 3% of your total damage, and I’d be hard pressed to believe that is intended.

  1. it doesn’t roll damage correctly
  2. soul reave doesn’t do the correct amount of damage
  3. doesn’t calculate damage correctly with sepsis ending
  4. it doesn’t even calculate damage correctly period. You can test this by doing BTE on a target you don’t attack and it doesn’t do 5% of that damage on the target.

Added fun bonus
If you hit pistol shot on two different targets, it hits for the same amount even though there’s variance in damage calculations.

IE Target #1 hit for 3173, 14 damage tick
IE Target#2 hit for 3315, 14 damage tick

So to clear up some confusion about what you are seeing, it is “working” correctly with initial damage calculations but it has some weird interactions with buffs/debuffs.

So 2set is double dipping armor. It echos 5% of damage reduced by armor (since 99% of our damage is physical) and then the dot itself is reduced by armor again. This is making it do less damage then it seems like it should, it should realistically be ~3.5% of your dps.

2set also double dips the damage amp from ghostly strike and double dips FW armor cut but double dipping armor is far more costly to its overall damage so these dont outweigh that.

4set is currently calculating its damage based on 1 tick of the dot, not the entire dot (it was doing this with the old bugged 2set as well they just never fixed it). 4 set also double dips vers and double dips crit so when its bug fixed it will probably be decent.
