I’ve been plagued by this for several months now. The client reports once or twice per day that my system has run out of memory and cannot allocate X amount of bytes. When that happens my system slows down to super sluggish for about a minute. Usually I have to reboot to get my system stable again. The bug usually happens during a loading screen, but sometimes it can happen during a raid.
I have 32GB of memory and when wow is not running I have approximately 16GB of free memory (I have a lot of chrome tabs open and background programs running). When wow is running I still have 6GB free. ( I have a lot of addons also) But the client still manages to run out of memory. Any ideas?
Here are my specs: cpu AMD 5950X with PBO enabled, gpu Asus Strix 3080ti, ram 32GB corsair dominator plat 3600mhz, mobo Asus Strix X570-E gaming, cooler 360mm AIO.
When encountering an issue, you’ll want to provide system diagnostic files that other players can use for troubleshooting.
Click here to show/hide DxDiag report instructions
- Press Windows Key + R, then type DxDiag and press Enter.
- In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
- Name the file dxdiag and click Save.
After you have the report:

In the meantime, review the Windows Reliability Monitor (Win10) or Reliability History (Win11), which may show you what’s happening in the background to cause any errors.
Looks like the issue is related to the graphics driver. Probably the most recent one, which lots of people have had issues with. Uninstall with DDU and reinstall the version from January. Also, you want to free up a bit of space on the second drive.
Ok I DDU’ed the nvidia driver and installed version 572.12 (without nvidia app this time). The 2nd drive is filled with VR games only from which I rarely play anymore.
Let’s see how it goes!
I also ditched nvidia broadcast (v1.4 - since v2.0 is really bad). Do you know of any alternative to nvidia broadcast for webcam background replacement?
