Original Authenticator

I’ve never been one for collector’s editions or physical merch from from games. But after my account was hacked many years ago (I think near the beginning of Wrath), I bought an authenticator. Sadly over the weekend, instead of the usual dependable number it said “batt 00” before slowly deciding on a number to give me. So, while I have now migrated to the app, I will have to find a place for the device that secured my account for the past 15 years or more.

I still have mine from Cata but I stopped using it a couple of years ago because I was afraid the battery would die and I would be locked out of my account. It is hanging on a mario lanyard beside my tv/monitor.

If you used it, and then disabled it in your account, do you still keep the extra bag slots? I never used one, because of a battery concern.

It didn’t give me the extra bag slots, just the Core Hound Pup pet and when I took it off my account they took away the pet.

Wow. Ok, I figured something like that would happen.

Thankie

I thought it was terribly rude since I paid for the authenticator yet Blizzard decided it wasn’t good enough to get the bag slots.

And then didn’t even leave me the pet when I had to take it off my account.

Same! I just switched to the app to try to preserve it lol. I keep it on top a slyvanas funko box on me desk

No, you lose the slots without it. I had one like OP since Wrath but when it died it was when they were having problems with the app and I couldn’t get it to work so I haven’t had one since. And the game keeps reminding me to get one and teasing me with the lit up bag slots on the bag UI.

I found mine a couple of months ago and it still generates codes.
