Orgrimmar needs better architects

Dalaran is a Human city with a minority High Elf population - definitely not their capital.

Pavement is nice to have, yes.

And trees.

Founded by Humans, it’s had a prominent High Elven population since it was founded. Hardly a minority, especially after the Third War.

We are built on war…not flowers…We dont have time like you little Alliance children to play housemaker and decorate, we have battles to fight and win, weapons to forge and blood to spill…

Pavement helps with war. It lets cargo lines move more expediently.

Prominent, yes. Still a minority though - Humans are the majority population.

It is very confusing to navigate, but in general I feel like our capital’s (especially the Horde Capital in General) shouldn’t be dwarfed by an allied member capital.

So, 50% Humans, 40% High Elves, 10% Other Races.

So, if out of all the High Elves left on the planet, 90% live in Dalaran, I’d say that makes the capital of the High Elves as a race, Dalaran.

No, because their real capital is Silvermoon. They are political exiles - forced out of Silvermoon, but that doesn’t mean it’s still not their capital.

What are you talking about? The High Elves who have lived in Dalaran all their lives, born and raised in Dalaran, are political exiles of Silvermoon?

The only High Elves removed from Silvermoon were the 10% of the survivals of the fall of Quel’Thalas who refused to drain mana. The 90% deaths figure only ever applied to the elves in Quel’Thalas, not outside of it.

The Elves living in Dalaran, well, that’s their home. They lived there before the city fell. While there are no doubt some political exiles, they’d be the minority, not the majority, since most of the 10% exiled from Quel’Thalas ended up in Quel’Lithien Lodge in the Eastern Plaguelands.

It doesn’t matter if they were living in Dalaran - Silvermoon is still their capital.

If a human lives in Lakeshire, Westfall, or Menethil Harbor… does that mean Stormwind is not their capital anymore?

Does Ironforge stop being a Dwarf’s capital if the dwarf lives in Loch Modan, or at an excavation settlement on Kalimdor?

The losing faction, right.

Depends. If those humans in Lakeshire, Westfall, or Menethil are from another kingdom, then no, Stormwind isn’t their capital. Unless you’re suggesting the capital of refugees is the city of the kingdom they’re living in, in which case, by your own argument, Dalaran would be the capital of the High Elves.

I don’t know. Do Dark Irons/Wildhammers living in those places consider Ironforge to be their Capital?

A lot of people assume the Thalassian Races has always been a single united political entity, when that isn’t true. High Elves living in Dalaran are not the same as High Elves living in Quel’Thalas, the same way that Humans living in Kul Tiras aren’t the same as Humans living in Stromgarde.

Hows your capital doing…still smoldering…nothing better sailing by and seeing that husk of dead tree in the moonlight…where was you Alliance when the flames were high in the sky that night hmmmmm

You’re a Tauren! You’re supposed to like trees and nature and stuff! Bad Tauren! Bad!

Every single High Elf, with the exception of any children, were still alive and were born during a time when the entirety of the High Elf race identified Quel’thalas as their Kingdom and Silvermoon as their capital. There was no schism until the Third War - which is quite recent relative to Thalassian lifespans.

Just because there were plenty of High Elves studying magic in Dalaran alongside the Humans doesn’t mean that they stopped considering Quel’thalas their Kingdom. You’re making their presence in Dalaran at the time of the Scouring and subsequent exile as indicative of them having surrendered their rights as the people of Quel’thalas.

You’re misunderstanding my point.

Dalaran has existed for nearly 3,000 years, plenty of time for new generations of High Elves to be born, and there is no doubt that a number of those living in Dalaran were born there. Even before the Third War, there was a clear divide between High Elves living in Dalaran, and those merely studying there but whom identified as citizens of Quel’Thalas. When Anasterian gave the command for all High Elves to return to Quel’Thalas, guess who stayed in Dalaran? His own son. Along with countless other High Elves.

Walk through Dalaran. You’ll find High Elves who aren’t studying magic. Heck, in the neutral inn you’ll find the bar tender (High Elf) and Innkeeper (Human) share the same last name. Married? Perhaps. Perhaps they’re Half-Elves and siblings.

The point here is, we know where the bulk of the political dissidents removed from Quel’Thalas went, and it wasn’t Dalaran. The High Elves in Dalaran are predominantly made up of High Elves that have been living there well before the First or Second Wars even happened.

Kael’thas himself, contemplating returning to Quel’Thalas, understands that those elves living in Quel’Thalas look down on those living in Dalaran.

There has been an obvious cultural, ethical, and philosophical difference between the High Elves living in Dalaran and those living in Quel’Thalas, for a very, very long time.

So, there are two national ethnicities of High Elves.
Quel’Thalas High Elves.
Dalaran High Elves.

Remember that little time when a certain human…(cough) Janian…went on a rampage thru Dalaran and killing all the Blood Elves thru out the city…yeah the Blood Elves should feel really welcomed back…

How is Undercity? Oh I forgot. Your whole army was there and you still lost the city. Meanwhile you had to burn down Teldrassil when our army was down in Silithus.

No

Personally I miss the more simple old orgrimmar. Old Orgrimmar felt like a “city” while current Orgrimmar feels like a military fortress.
