"Ordos and the Ordon Sanctuary remain a special reward": It's Time to Change This

Correct. The “Ashjra’kamas, Shroud of Resolve” cloak (also known as the “i aint spelling that cloak”) is still obtainable. In fact, it’s a necessary component in Visions and the N’zoth raid fight.

Having said that, the Pandarian cloak appearances were made available again in a way through the Armoire toy. You can wear a random cloak appearance without having to have touched the questline. That further reinforces how silly this Ordon Sanctuary/Pandarian cloak questline removal is.

The funny thing is, I distinctly remember a blue post at the end of MoP/WoD, saying they were going to open the Ordon Sanctuary to everyone, regardless of if they had the cloak or not.

This was on the old forums, so that post is no longer accessible. But I know I read it. And I know others did too cause I’ve seen others reference it before too.

(This is coming from someone who has the cloak on 4 toons, for reference)

The fact the Pandaria and Warlords legendary quests were removed isn’t just egregious because of some lost cosmetics. They removed MAJOR lore moments from those expansions. Wrathion is inexplicable without it in place. In WoD, the ring quest was quite literally the ONLY lore added post-launch. I have never disagreed with a decision they made more. It is so arbitrary, since EVERY other legendary in the game is still obtainable, aside from Atiesh, which also sucks, but at least there was a reasonable explanation for that.

These threads do come up several times a year. When they do they get enough posts to prove that for a lot of reasons, a lot of people do care. My interest is in content. The idea that it’s somehow good for the game to destroy all continuity and meaning in old content to teach a lesson to players who had never heard of the game when that was current is just weird.

That whole excuse is fine for certain fomo cosmetics. But there are very few examples in the entirety of wows lifespan where entire storylines were ripped out of the game unless it was a prepatch event. As far as I am aware, there’s 3. AQ (can’t replicate it anyway due to the material quantity. You would have to modify it), MoP cloak (zero reason it can’t be put back in but without the cloak mog) and WoD ring (no one cares about a ring or garrison monument, lmao).

You’re right about one thing though. This isn’t about the community. This is about the one spot in the entire game that is blocked to players because they didn’t do a thing in the past. I’m not aware of any other zone in the entire game that is blocked off in such a fashion.

So is it stupid that this block still exists? Most definitely. But is it a big deal? No, not really. You can still kill Ordos from behind even if he doesn’t drop anything. And you can skirt the edges of his island to kill the rare on the left anyway. The only area you can’t enter is his immediate courtyard area.

I would like to see Blizzard start asking themselves: “How does this affect roleplaying?” in the decisions they make. Arbitrarily blocking off a zone to a select group is not a good call to make, and simply moving transmog sources to another spot still does not provide a satisfactory answer to that question.

Of course, Blizzard has the power to correct this mistake. “Better late than never.”

I agree blocking off Ordon Sanctuary is bizarre at this point. It’s not like it was hard to get a cloak back in the day. You just had to play the expansion. It’s not some prestigious thing. A lot of people just didn’t play the game at the time, myself included.

I miss the glowy ethereal wings that would proc off the cloak during combat and also while just standing around.
Too bad that was removed. Very cool visual effect.

Have you used the toy? There’s lots of glowy effects from that.

I didn’t know there was a toy related to the old legendary cloak proc.

You can buy it from a vendor in the Obsidian Citadel

I think the claim that people who weren’t there at the time should find the story inexplicably broken, and it’s their own fault is just bizarre. A player can complete Loremaster in Pandaria and come out of it convinced that Garrosh did nothing wrong, because he apparently left immediately after the initial airship crash and was never seen there again.

Should be opened up to everyone. Just leave the cloak requirement to cross the broken bridge.

Thank you. I’ll check it out.

Would rather just have the old one back though. If we could tmog the cloak and get the visuals that would be fun.

The toy doesn’t let you choose from the wowhead comments. Could take awhile to get to the one you want if there is a lot to cycle through.

I agree on both points. I just wanted to let you know there is a way to get the procs currently, but yes the cloak you get is random unfortunately. I do agree the effects should be placed back on the original transmogs as well.

At this point I’d place money on this probable fact. And this probable fact is that the number of players with the cloak on their account vs those without is 1:5 or thereabouts because there definitely aren’t tons of players from then who are still here. These days when I ask the question when did you start it’s sometimes vanilla bc, but usually legion BFA. Or even now “I’ve been gone SINCE mists and just now returned.” Open the fresking boss. The peoole who earned the privilege aren’t gonna care because they’re either like me or they’re gone and never think about wow anymore

i am a true believer that if blizzard was to just suck it up and reinstate every removed item from this game they just might slowly boom again with subs and players. me personally, i have just about “almost” maybe 90-95% of every item in game (been here since beta). but i would love to have the opportunity to get the few odds and ends i missed out on.

but on top of that there are many people i talked to in rl about wow and would ask them how come they dont sign up and play. and the 1 common answer from all of them over the years was “well the game is to far progressed and it will feel pointless to play if i cannot have a chance to obtain all of the nice things that have been removed from the game”

i mean the answer is clear and simple. blizzard brings everything back to once again become obtainable (at the same difficulty when current ofc) they might actual start seeing a rise in subs once more.

They should bring back that legendary quest chain. Its such huge lore drops for heroes like wrathion.

Would be a nice way to use bronze dragons. Maybe last season to bring back that questline at our ilvl for the cloak and maybe the ring from WoD.

Removing it makes the MoP story inconsistent and nonsensical. A lot less people would be fangirling over Wrathion if they had experienced the whole story of MoP.

Very correct. Those who didn’t play the questline during MoP have no real idea how Wrathion developed. The same issue applies with the WoD questline and Cordana Felsong.
