Orcs got dragonflight'ed, orcs are officially removed from the franchise. Devs are not gamers anymore

This sounds like someone who hadn’t played since the original Warcraft and just now came back. The redmeption of the orcs, and them throwing off demon corruption and stopping being evil, happened in Warcraft 3. This argument is over 2 decades too late, haha.

Implying that he actually played the RTS games.

With the current direction WoW is taking, Durak may become a Paladin!

I hope they keep void and light as morally ambiguous that just seek to exude their will on the universe. The touched on it in legion with illidan, with Grom in Mag’har allied race and with scarlet crusade. Light should not automatically mean good.

A warlock could be interesting though.

Yeah good point! The RTS games did show the point of view of the orcs.

baine bloodhoof has become trash and i hate him because how they made him act to sylvanas and during bfa. after the battle of dezar alor baine at the funeral infront of EVERONE suggested that the horde and talenji should push for peace, like legit the nerve and him being made that sylvanas allowed an enemy to be raised into undeath that legit has what the player character since cata was a valkyr raised and in all over thats how the forsaken been raised but no baine acts like that sylvanas is evil for what raising enemies of the other faction to go against them . we legit been doing this since silverpine questline( legit one of the best story in wow that is forsaken centered) honestly i hate the writting they even had characters like uther who lorewise shouldnt be in the shadowlands based on pre shadowlands lore and was someone you meet in the paladin campaign. when acording to the shadowlands lore was already in the bastion despite that not being possible the amount of lore breaking retcons character assassinations its like they dont care about the races and characters and try to basically make them humans but differnt apearence.

throwing off the demon corruption doesnt make them all behave and believe the same as wow humans but just look like orcs which is what they did its an insult to the lore and the playerbase who like the races as they were pre metzen leaving.

You, as well as the guy who made this thread and… well a painfully large amount of people, have a very narrow view of what makes the orcs, well, orcs.

“Oh the big green guys aren’t covered in spikes and metal and bathing in blood, they’re basically just humans!”

Either none of y’all actually played the Orc heritage questline or you just ignored it. Do you think the Humans care much about ancestral reverence the same way that Orcs do? What about the Elements? What Human actually cares enough to be in tune with them?

“Oh but they’re not FIGHTING!”

Well for one: No major wars are going on. The war against the Incarnates is primarily being handled by the Valdrakken Accord. There’s no need for Orcs to fight as much, hence why they’re rediscovering their ancient traditions of the Kosh’arg.

And for two: In the heritage questline, one of the first things you do is fight Drek’thar as a test of worthiness. And then, later on, you have to hunt down a deadly beast without any armor on.

Yeah I caught that irony and thought “the ironing is delicious today”

My understanding is the old orcs were good, shamanistic and clan based (a primitive savage race with a different belief structure but ultimately not evil).
The downfall of the orcs came at the hands of the Draenei leading the legion right to them. Unlike the Dreanei that had the Naaru to guide and warn them away from the legion, the Orcs were not afforded such a warning and thus were tricked by the legion (who initially goaded Nerzhul into believing they were the orc ancestors) - this has been retconned a few times so not sure what is currently cannonical.
This led to their corruption and enslavement to madness. They did many despicable and treaturous deeds during this time. Utlimately leading to invading Azeroth and getting absolutely SPANKED.
Then crica WC3, the ruined lethargic race gains redemption in the form of a young Thrall, reconnecting his people with their past traditions and elevating the race.

Personally I like the nuances in the storytelling and how you can justify perspectives based on the circumstances. Thats what made early wow so compelling.

The writing is big time cringe. I hope it gets better in the World Soul Saga.

If being an orc is really all about retrograde masculinity and fans want more of that then it’s no wonder why this game is dying. People ought to ask themselves more often why the Warcraft movie flopped as hard as it did. Big buff angry green men are not that interesting and Marvel does it better anyway (and even they haven’t given Hulk a sequel)

Warcraft isn’t really warcraft since expansions play kumbaya with factions pretty much

Mine too…it sounds like an air raid siren.

Warcraft wasn’t about faction war since WC3. “War” in Warcraft stands for any war, mostly with someone else.
