The high elves who later became the blood elves were actually ostracized and abandoned by the Alliance during the earlier wars. The alliance just used the elves as body bags and fodder for their own troops
The Forsaken were named forsaken because their fellow citizen who did not become undead forsake them and even formed the scarlet crusade etc to hunt them down because they consider them monsters.
