You always get those people. Druids are the same way since only NE and Tauren do the Cenarion druid thing but all groups are welcomed to work together. The Priests are the same way. Different walks of life but same core practices that bring them together. Doesn’t really matter how they got there. But someone will always complain about it.
Sorry about the necro—but I’ve seen people interpret Lok’osh as users of Light, when to me, the way Nakha phrases it makes it clear they’re actually just Spirit shamans.
Relka Bloodfyre arguably further confirms this when she says :
I have come because I have heard that there are now some among the orcs who listen to the songs of life and shadow. The mysteries of the cosmos are ones that the Shadowmoon have mastered.
If nothing else, I wish to share my dead clan’s knowledge with the young where I can, and try to steer those who seek to use the darkness away from disaster.
She mentions the Orc priests turning to “life and shadow” ; “life” is absolutely more reminiscent of Spirit than it is of Light.
In other words, the way I understand it, Orc priests are :
- Lok’osh, that is to say shamans who specialize in Spirit (Holy spec)
- Void-wielding priests who were trained by Relka Bloodfyre in the ways of the MU Shadowmoon (Shadow spec)
If we ever get themed spell options, like Silver priest/paladin spells for Night Elves, I think maybe a pearly white, iridescent colored effect would be great for Mag’har priests in this case (and Orc Priests, actually). Pearly isn’t quite the same as silver, and that iridescence would help set it apart. I think the scope of colors also helps make it feel more like the diversity life brings to the table.
Glyphs are definitely the easiest, most practical option for the devs to enhance class-race identity in a way that doesn’t require an unreasonable amount of resources. Really weird and frustrating that they didn’t start committing to that already
Good take on Religion but meaningless since Orc spiritualism focused on ancestors who are now trapped in Oshu’gun.
The Shadowmoon Clan is virtually extinct. A single surviivor is not enough to uphold the culture. When Draenor went boom Orc culture died. And was replaced with that weird humanized take by a human raised blue eyed weirdo who punished his own people into poverty.
I guess they might as well change their religion, since we found out in SL that they can’t actually commune with their ancestors.
Not enough to revive a clan, but enough to pass on its traditions, knowledge and culture. Especially when we also have the AU Shadowmoon now, through the AU Mag’har.
Also, Relka described herself as the “last Mag’har of the Shadowmoon”, not the last Shadowmoon per say. So I guess the Shadowmoon Peons NPCs from Shadowmoon Village on Outland may actually be from that clan too after all. Maybe they, and even a bunch of salvaged Shadowmoon Fel Orcs, could be put to use
Fortunately, that retcon has been… retconned. We did commune with Orc spirits in the Orc Heritage questline, notably with Draka, who acknowledged our achievements in Maldraxxus, confirming that she’s the actual Draka, and not a mere echo or anything like that
