I believe a dwarfs beard actually is part of their skeleton. It is more firmly attached than their teeth.

You may be thinking of the Slayers in Warhammer Fantasy, who are dishonored and go off on suicide missions, but before they do, they shave their beards and get a mohawk for… some reason. (Real reason: it was the 80s.)

In Warcraft, we have much more civilized punishments for shameful dwarves, such as the post of liaison to Gnomeregan.

At one time, (while playing WAR) I thought the posterkid for the slayer dwarves should have been Kerry King. Uh…no pun intended.

My husband has a bunch of those guys. Even they still have beards.
