I am not a streamer but I played since Vanilla and have an active account up to now. Guess what, I was invited to Classic Beta. And the people in Classic beta like me were all in Vanilla.
Resurrected a 2 year old thread just to say that? Yikes…
It’s definitely RNG, I’ve only gotten in for the MoP beta and nothing else for WoW. But I was invited for the SC2 beta and I don’t even play SC. Oh and same with Overwatch.
Also why the necro?
If it means anything this is the only beta/alpha I care about being invited too.
I have never been this excited before, I really want to get my hands on the dracthyr.
I hope I am accepted, only thing I know for sure is that it seems some streamers are specifically chosen but not all.
They give the beta to specific people. Most of the time first “wave” is influencers followed by cutting edge raiders and then its a mix of people who dont even play and people who do whatever needs testing in the game.

Blizzard doesn’t ever listen to beta feedback anyways so you’re not missing much.
This was a friend of mine, not just some random flaming an old thread. I had mentioned this being my most viewed and only post I’ve made and he wanted to troll a little.

To a degree. I got into MoP/WoD/Legion/Shadowlands Beta. But in the last pass. I’ve always assumed it was because in the last pass, they invited people with PCs below the minimum requirements, to try to test how they handle the expansion to finalize the PC requirements. (I got into BFA earlier cause I won a wowhead contest lol)
I don’t expect to get into beta this time though, as I have a better PC now.

As to how they give out the beta tests I have learned that it is based on
#1 Having an active subscription
#2 Your region
#3 Hardware
#4 How quickly you signed up compared to others (First come more likely first served)
#5 Avoiding people who have had any negative rapport
Could be more factors but that is what I have learned so far!
I remember they made a post sometime in the past which gave very general criteria for their beta selection. It included things like having an account “in good standing” which was assumed to be one that did not have one ore more suspensions against it. And yes, you needed an active game account but I dont believe that getting in fast has anything to do with it. I’ve had 3 beta invites (BfA, Legion and Shadowlands) and my access was at various points, from quite early to towards the end.
My feel is that if you have done it before and contributed well to the test you may increase your chance of getting another invite. So people who just charge in, level their testing characters up and report little or no glitches or problems are less likely to get an invite than those who tinker about and find those environmental and questing issues.
I think they also pick players from a variety of locations so they can test things things like latency/lag and phasing. Other than that, its pretty well up to luck.
