Opinion Piece: TBC is fine, don't disrupt Classic

This man, 100%. Retail killed me with expansions wiping hard earned work.

So you don’t want your 2 year grinding up to naxx gear to be replaced?
It would be replaced in TBC, for sure.
It would also be replaced in a vanilla plus that has extra content.
Either way, you’re grinding for better gear regardless :man_shrugging:
You can dislike TBC, that’s fine. But that logic is flawed.

Lol yeah… and not this fake dead they constantly call classic. They’re going to log on and find like 3 other people they’ve never met before online then scurry to the forums to complain about something we’ve been warning them about this whole time.

You realize a lot of vanilla pserver players will move on to tbc right? I know. I’m one of them. I moved to classic originally with my pserver guild. We all talked about how we hoped tbc followed. We didn’t play vanilla because we liked it more… it’s because there were no good tbc servers.

let me let you in on a little secret… there’s private tbc servers right now… hell there’s wotlk private servers. People play what they wanna play. No not all classic players are gonna move into TBC.

Yeah there are now cuz classic lol. I practice for tbc on them regularly.

I think fresh BC servers should be opened and classic servers remain as is and adjusted as needed for population. People seem to like the idea of a fresh start and that would be fun for them.

Copying servers wont be probable for tons of reasons.

Classic only will remain 100%

That leaves creating options for fresh start and new servers that Classic players can transfer to.

Options galore.

I want to play classic end game essentially until I’m bored. Naxx gear full t3, alts full t3, 99 parses, and PvP is my end game. Tbc means the last year plus of building to my end game is wiped. I do not want Classic plus.

I imagine you won’t have enough people on every current server to make this feasible, so isolating Classic servers would be better to a few at best. That way you have a healthy community to play with.

I’m good with leaving Classic alone, but migrating ā€œcopiesā€ of our characters into TBC. Every xpac made things easier, and newbies had little appreciation for the effort it use to take. Classic reinforced that. I do think that after you’ve killed everything a zillion times, it will get boring, and even our fun runs will get boring. There may come a time when Blizzard begins to merge servers as interest migrates away from Classic into TBC, and that’s fine. Virtual servers can be spun up as needed for much less cost that physical servers. The nice thing is as time goes on, when new peeps start their ā€œtalkā€ about now vs then, we can go say ā€œjump on Pagleā€ start a character and come back and tell me how easy it was! There maybe a day when there’s only a handful of Classic servers and even TBC servers, but each xpac Blizzard has released has had some uniqueness to it that both gives and takes something. We see that in the interest Classic has generated and LONG been requested.

Mergers could work too. The only logical argument that comes to my mind against mergers is keeping character names, but that’s the same problem with everyone transferring to a new server too.
