Achievement Unlocked: “Store Credit”
Bought a token using in-game gold and converted it to Blizzard Balance.
There’s your “hard achievement” that gets you the mog. (Which isn’t that hard.)

^Since you can already get these shop items via Blizzard balance through token purchases for gold, why would you want to make it difficult to obtain through a hard achievement when someone could just gather the gold and buy it that way if they didn’t want to spend cash. However, I could certainly see the argument to have most of the items be lowered in price to $15 so that they could be bought using one token purchase.
While gold making/farming is loved by some people, I feel that a achievement would be a more better fit for the game as well…it is a video game.
Microtransactions are cancer in any game that isn’t F2P. Doesn’t matter if it’s WoW or Call of Duty or any game, really.
I hope so, I loved the Mage Tower. Getting transmog, mounts, etc in limited time events (that don’t require money) feels really rewarding.
Farm the gold, print my post out, write it on a piece of paper and admire it. There’s your achievement. Go you!
Sorry no. That’s not the point of my post.
No cancer is cancer. Microtransactions are just something you don’t like.
Your point is to cry. I am trying to cheer you up with levity.
I’m not crying.
You’re just trying to provoke me into a war of words.
Microtransactions are something most people who play video games strongly dislike. They’re incredibly predatory and generally just unhealthy for any game you’ve already needed to pay money to play in the first place.
Let’s not shill for the multi-billion dollar company today, okay?
You can already earn them from in game resources. Farm up some gold, buy a token off the AH, convert it into blizzard balance and then use that to buy the item you wish.
Like I said, as it’s a game we all like and since it’s a video game, I would like it if they introduced a fun achievement instead of just farming gold.
Hence, my point and the post
You can have your opinion about it being worrying to you. I disagree with it as cool micro transactions have been in the game since Vanilla times, just in different forms. Same concept that those were cooler than what you could get in game, too.
Blizzard has done the whole external source for things for 15 years, there’s just no RNG involved with it now. Which I definitely prefer.
I respect your opinion. Fair play.
I however do not like how they have gone full steam in BFA. So we will agree to disagree.
Yes, that is what I was about say.
That is wholly subjective.
And still doesn’t change the fact that they are unnecessary to the game.
There is no trend as this is not happening.
You only pay $15 a month. That is three to four cups of coffee from Starbucks in exchange for hours upon hours of entertainment.
And players purchasing those items help keep that sub price low so it is an advantageous business strategy for everyone.
And, frankly, I think the only people who are having a problem with it are those with issues of entitlement and covetousness.
Dear Blizzard
Thank you for giving players two routes to getting these cosmetic, and therefore unnecessary to the game, items and then continue to make them available thru one of the routes for folks late to the party.
Sincerely, Me
I honestly think you believe I hate the 6 month sub rewarding loyal customers. I don’t.
I want those people to get their rewards for free because they are giving a bigger commitment plus I want Blizzard to put these in game through insanely hard achievements instead of milking the cash shop.
I heard you can just use gold to buy tokens and turn them into bnet funds or something. So there ya go. Hard in game money making into cash shop item.
I just wanted them to put in a fun achievement.
Well I guess this is the end of the road. Having a civil and decent discussion is apparently flag worthy so, see ya all later.
Nae-Naes in the corner with the Sprite Darter set Blizzard just gave to me for free even though the last time I paid for my sub was January
