Operation Mechagon is pretty much the last straw

Finished it last night. Had the last two bosses to go. We’re casual in our approach, but we also focus on performance. Our avg ilvl was 408 with our top being 412. Only 3 one-shots out of 8 bosses. It was a good time. Crazy fails, hilarious wipes, etc, the usual.

Took quite some time, mind you. 3hrs the first night, then an hour to finish; but we seeded in breaks and such. It’s important to stand up from the PC on a regular basis and start blinking again.

I think where a group would run into trouble is thinking it’s an island expedition, and trying to just blast through in regards to trash. The worst issue is the existence of the Hard Mode, and players not knowing to avoid whatever boss has the Arial Assault Flyer over it.

If I were to make a tweak, I would put in an announcement upon entering - Blizzard should know by now that some players enjoy moving into uncharted waters w/out reading guides ahead of time - and the Hard Mode variant seems a bit prankish on their part to not make it clearer. Not that you can’t figure it out, but that it is a painful and time wasting discovery that I feel does not need to be.

Guys, I have a secret: I really enjoy the new dungeon.

I wonder how people will react to Classic raids…

Seriously though, from what I’ve seen so far is that it is a very technical raid. It isn’t impossible or over-tuned in my opinion but just punishing if you try to brute force through the mechanics. I just think it is harder than people expected but no worse than raiding. If you find it difficult, just give it a few more weeks for people to better gear and learn the fights and try again.

It was the same when Return to Karazhan released. First week, people couldn’t get past the opera. It takes time for people to learn the fights and a lot of people can’t learn on the fly without someone that already knows it walking them through it. As time goes on, people will learn and it will be as difficult as any other mythic dungeon.

Do mechanics. I’ve literally done it now on an alt that’s 404 when I went in and is 408 after. There’s nothing that needs nerfed. And I did it in a random pug as dps.

Though I will say with the amount of forced movement I have no desire whatsoever to try to do this instance as a caster. Just, none at all. More than a few bosses are nonstop movement fights.

Completely true as well. fights in vanilla had more simple mechanics but DPS also had to worry about threat which in it self a mechanic. A lot of the mechanics also seemed to have been a tank’s burden over the groups. As more often than not the tank would really have to worry about positioning and a few abilities rather than the whole group worry about it.

Maybe not afk but man I had a few reallly bad eggs in the guild back then. They were mainly kept around since a bad DPS/healer were better than no DPS/healer. Of course if/when we could get a replacement for them we did. Also once you got into actual higher tiers like AQ/Naxx it got to the level were only those who actually want to progress showed up, which made things easier.

I also want to add that there is this lovely thing for trash called… crowd control abilities. It is completely amazing how easy some trash packs are when you are able to focus fire 1 at a time down.

Sounds like challenging content was added, and now you’re complaining about it.

Blizz is stuck right now between the 2 camps of players and doesnt know who to appease…

The side the OP is in is considered “the casuals” who always complain the game is too hard, too grindy, loves flying, loves LFR, Cross-realm, and other “quality of life mechanics” they also usually prefer mechanics in mobile games. Also usually doesnt like PvP

The other camp is “the hardcore gamers” who are considered the veterans of the MMO Genre. they want the game to be hard, they care about community, they hate flying, and prefer immersion over convenience, and hate things like mobile games, and auto-run. Usually really likes PvP (I fall into this category).

I cant blame Blizz for being unsure what to do. one camp will hate them for going with the other camp and both camps are about the same size (though the casuals camp is a lot more vocal). They made all of 8.2 BfA suuper casual friendly and easy but still get flak if they make a single dungeon to cater to the hard-cores…

The dungeon is fun, a little challenging until you understand the mechanics then it becomes easy. Just pay attention to what dbm or whatever addon you use tells you to do, then do it.

I cleared Mechagon already. I was tanking and undergeared… dont see the issue…

I did it multiple times on day one without looking up anything before going in. Hop in discord with some friends or guildies and experiment and try things out. I had a great time doing it.

I didn’t play in legion so it was my first mega dungeon and one of my favourite instances ever. I really hope it never gets nerfed

It’s really not that bad though. Me and my friends enjoyed learning new fights, and how to handle the mechanics. Gunker was a pain but we did all the fights on hardmode first time around so wipes were expected. If all the content is a joke what’s the point of even doing it. It was a nice change to have tough fights on a non mythic plus that people had to pay attention to. Next week when people start getting 430 gear from +10s and out gear it completely it’ll be so much easier. People wipe on mythic raids for weeks at the same boss for worse gear than mythic plus besides a few select items but they do it to challenge themselves. If you’re not up for a challenge than just do world quests and stick to +2 keys

It is unforgiving mech. wise but god the feeling you get when you down a boss perfectly is just the best

I mean, wasn’t everyone complaining the game was too easy? Now It’s too hard? Can we make up our minds?

but if they do we who we gonna laugh at during work hours when we can’t enjoy the game?

Mechagon was awesome. One of the best dungeons they’ve ever made. You don’t need to be able to clear it the first time you step foot into it. Keep at it. Stop the entitlement.

The people who actively decide to turn on PvP mode, then come to the forums to cry and have clearly never done world PvP before.

Yeah seriously.

I mean hell, Underrot 0 was driving pugs nuts the first week it was out. These days the whole place is basically free up to a +7.

Hardest part for me was the last pack before King Mechagon. My group had no humanoid CC. Harder than any boss there, hands down.

This statement is gold lmao.

You not dying to mechs is a great way to improve gameplay.

So you want per turn fights? Exciting!

Not dying to mech is a turn, doing damage is another turn.

Game was never based around turns, btw i was just laughing at you.

Making things harder means making things easier
lmao.

Yes it is.

If you didn’t die you would have plenty of options.

Bet you gonna start yellling people to get out of your lawn in a couple of years at this rate.
