Operation Mechagon is pretty much the last straw

And? Are you saying that Mechagon in it’s current state is on the same level of difficulty and time investment as a plus 3?

Why are you saying skill and time like vanilla when vanilla is super easy and any casual can do them, you can even just two man SM at 40 if you wanted to.

It was early TBC heroics that were messing people up.

A plus 3 is timed and has affixes. This is a difficult run with no time limit. I am not saying do one over the other as they are the “same” one is designed for a longer more challenging experience the other is to upgrade your key

So the original wailing caverns you did in 29 minutes? I think not.

How long do you think will take to get “fully decked out in 425”? By the time you get there, 425 will be new norm.

Took my friends and me about 75 minutes to complete with no prior experience or research; prob reduce that to 50 or less next week. Only two fights wiped us; both were mechanical in nature as we didn’t see it before hand.

3 manned the last boss, two of our dps were dumb and stood in bad. Took awhile but he dropped 1 shot.

I’m pretty sure the intention of the dungeon wasn’t for the casual crowd but an “alternative” to raiding for the dungeon crowd. My only issue is the item-level drops are too low. Should drop 425 to be honest.

I think the trash is difficult and the boss mechanics are punishing. That’s why I find Mechagon absolutely amazing.

I love watching my 415 ilvl group who’s used to blowing through m+ speed runs have to actually take a breather and focus. It’s refreshing to not just face roll a new dungeon. Now after reset or two, these boss mechanics will be face roll, but for now I’m enjoying the challenge.

I have tanked it and healed it this week. I will say I have mad respect for healers in that place. It’s insanely more complex for healers than other roles.

Just bloating his own ego is all man.

I think Operation: Mechagon is built for veteran Mythic + players.

Veteran Mythic+ players should be around ilevel 415 right now. My group last night seems to be veteran as nobody dies easily on dodging poops. But we had no choice when we picked a level 408 tank. The tank was good though… never died on Boss fights but died once as our Healer took the blame for not keeping the tank alive… he said he was busy dps’ing. LOL. Anyway, the tank didnt really die on boss fights but I remembered he died thrice on trash mobs. LOL.

All of us DPS died few times on first Boss attempts especially me but I got the mechanics right away and we killed the Bosses on 2nd attempt. There were some Bosses that we killed on first attempt.

All in all… Operation: Mechagon is challenging and fun. Finally, Blizz has made some mechanics where BM Hunters excel. I am loving it.

Yes, I’m a healer and this dungeon was insane…we all wiped repeatedly, ilvl 405-ish except for me at 415, took around 3 hours and a little more, and we all loved it! 2 dps grouped with a tank and me healing with my buddy all hopped in discord and just ran the dungeon cold. We read the journal together after the first wipe. Some bosses took a lot more than 2 tries

A few references to Khara, including the eventual split into two wings and we all figured that’s what would happened this time and no one seemed to mind that.

One guy was just getting all kinds of awesome loot. He got a 435 punch card, a bunch of 415+ upgrades, and his buddy got the staff at 420 saying it was his BIS until he gets deep into Heroic EP. Someone traded me a BIS healing punchcard at 415. Recipes were dropping for everyone like a loot piñata. It was a good time–we were exhausted at the end as we passed the 2am marker but we stuck with it and two people earned the achievement.

If there’s anything I regret it’s not being revered before going into the dungeon and finishing the quest line. I didn’t even think about it and now my record doesn’t show I finished it this first week so I’m kinda bummed about that.

Yeah the rogue in our group got the mount blue print and has made just over 1 million gold selling the parts off of it.

you have normal and heroic

Well, Blizzard has fought very hard to make us not care about gear anymore and thus, in the spirit of things, I’ve begun to oblige them in this expansion. So no, not yet.

well let’s hope the current wow team isn’t looking at wildstar with fondness. Wildstar was an unmitigated disaster where the devs found that a vocal minority wanted challenging mechanics and the vast majority of players just want something fairly easy that provides steady progression.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the difficulty necessarily, but the rewards should be greater. Meaningful rewards are essential to maintaining interest in high-end content.

I feel ya. I do miss getting excited about my gear, but as long as we’re killing bosses, I guess we soldier on.

I actually liked this dungeon, I can’t believe people are actually quiting without even finishing it. Once you learn the mechanics the bosses are pretty easy.

There seems to be a bit of a disconnect between alot of the people in this thread and the effort to reward ratio most of us are used. The minimum ilvl of rewards is 5-15 ilvls over the average ilvl of most people talking about it here. If you are doing full clears of the instance, and get one item thats a clear upgrade of that caliber, THAT’S AWESOME. Gear upgrades typically go that way, incremental boosts of .5-1% dps at a time, and every once in awhile, like once or twice a tier, you get that awesome upgrade that shoots you up more than 2%.

If you replace all your gear with Mechagon gear, you’ll be over 415 ilvl. That’s pretty solid considering everything higher is at least heroic raid level. Except maxxed out benthic gear but a full set of that would take months to get the pearls for. It should take like 5 weeks or so of clears to accomplish this! And if this is the top end of your gear progression / content difficulty, it should be difficult to do.

I could spend 6 hours on Normal Commander Shivara but that doesn’t mean I’m expecting it, or that it should, be dropping greater than ilvl 415 gear.

Time investment in this case is wholly personal.
Some people cleared Mechagon with only 1 or 2 pulls on each boss, others took more than that. The rewards from Mechagon are consistent with Normal Raid bosses, high enough that they should warrant as much time investment as similar content.
