ever since the start of classic ive been wanting to go to the underdog faction but I keep getting screwed lol
It’s also to stop people from taking resources cheap from one server then transfering to another where prices are 10x higher.
Op is right, Ive been preaching this for literally 2 month now. They didnt do jack knit unfortunately. I just boosted another Rogue (the Char I wanted to transfer was Rogue, too). Felt bad, but now he is geared.
But I totally see where you come from. Its ridiculous and all the naysayers are full of resentment.
The naysayers just want the most players deterred as possible so they are for the lock
Meh Grobb is only bad during prime time head drops in SW but that’s mostly any realm with a decent population. Hell half the cringe guilds in our realm feel the need to have 19 raids teams and then you have smaller guilds barely able to fill 1. The balance between mega guilds and normal guilds is insane on Grobb and the faction balance isn’t too bad but ever since Hurricane blew up feels like there’s never big PvP events/battles anymore
And as OP has stated, that is without any sense when it comes to OP and all the others who are already heavily established on their destination server.
ive been trying to contact support with no success, they should give us special privileges cause we already have a 60 there.
So does allowing the creation of characters on the server that are transfer locked… The logic doesn’t add up. Is it locked or not?
The whole ‘they could just boost to 60 and transfer like crazy’ is completely shut down by the fact it would be case-by-case. If they see you only have 1 toon on a server that leveled to 60 with absurdly low play time and was created AFTER the lock started, then it’s an easy ‘nope’ and move on. We’re talking people who have been established on locked servers for months before the population issues started happening and with several 60s already - transfers like that would literally have 0 impact on queue times. Just let the GMs make the decision on a case-by-case basis, that’s all it would take
I see people who want the transfer lock lifted to get rank 14s back on their home server. I say it’s just karma if you went there to take advantage of a realm’s resources that might just be lower population than you.
I’m not sure about BB actual numbers but in running around I see way more Alliance than Horde.
Stop making multiple threads on this. No they shouldn’t open up to you. You should not get special privileges. Possible you spent x-amount of time on your old server buying up lowball items or what not and now want to transfer them over.
I came to Grobbulus from Arcanite Reaper. Almost every major guild from AR transferred to Grobbulus because Blizzard hadn’t, and still hasn’t, released a statement on how they would handle AQ gates on severely underpopulated or faction skewed servers.
At the time Grobb was almost perfect for faction balance but now it is noticeably skewed.
That being said, I didn’t transfer a couple of my alts because I wanted to finish leveling them up on a dead server. Now they’re 60 it would be awesome to have them with my main account since I’ve now also leveled 2 more 60s on Grobb.
For world farming I haven’t noticed a huge difference if you put in the time. You actually get to know who the serious farmers are in each zone as well as the obvious gold farmers/bots. I usually do 2 straight hours in burning steppes in the morning before work and 2 more at night after kids are in bed and come away with 2-3 lotus per day + arcane crystals from farming.
I don’t see much horde though other than the Cow patrol. used to see way more back in February.
I want to xfer mine over to break up the lotus mafia on Grobbulus. pretty sure all the Arcanite Reaper → Grobbulus xfers left characters behind and are now sitting on thousands of black lotus to bring and crash the market. Would be so nice to reset it and see their cries in discord.
Case-by-case situation, let a GM make that determination when you submit the ticket to transfer.
Yes, I believe I addressed this.
They will…After the population declines, and layers are removed for a bit.
I’m in CST though so while my morning time might be early might night sessions are during prime time.
If anything I’ve found the zones more dead Tuesday-Friday after 6:00pm ST. Except EPL, that place is always full.
On Grobb at 4am ST you will still see at least 8+ alliance in steppes farming. on AR you can get 0 for hours unless that dude with the 10 accounts is logged in.
the people talking about getting r14 on an “easy” server and going back to home server… first of all a bunch of people have already done that. Secondly, every server is pretty much the same caps, and smaller ones are actually harder due to smaller PvP pool.
The goal of the transfer locks is NOT “to reduce the number of players who have character on the realm”. That is NOT a goal. The goal is reducing queues, which means reducing the total time actually played by players.
Playing on multiple servers (switching servers to make something easier) is not a supported gameplay style. Blizzard will do nothing to help it, such as making special rules for it.
In my opinion this is EXACTLY the purpose of the lock. Players who max up a character on another server CANNOT then move it to the overcrowded server to play it there. But Blizzard is not targetting those players. Blizzard is simply trying to reduce the queue problem – and anything that causes players to spend more time playing on these servers.
