Layering should have been implemented and STAYED from the beginning to account for how many people there are now in classic vs how many there were in vanilla. the fact that this black lotus discussion is even a topic kind of proves that.
I don’t think the few people grinding herbs and their profit margins are a worthwhile argument against the people actually being able to log in and play the game. Nor do i think ‘just transfer’ and splitting up gaming communities is an effective solution. Blizzard, your priority should be first and foremost making the game accessible and fun for your player-base. Layering will accomplish this and there aren’t really any mitigating circumstances that should be able overrule this fact.
You gave us a world that, in the old days, handled 4000 peak players BARELY, then decided to up the pop number 5 to 6 times over, without any concept of scaling resources (both in game and for the server itself), and then ask us the community for feedback on how to remedy this?
Yes, please add layering. It will be a huge benefit to a huge majority of players. I am currently waiting in a 130 minute queue which is likely to actually be longer. The queue times over the last couple weeks have been getting longer, not shorter. People are playing this game for something to do while they’re stuck at home all the time. Many won’t have the luxury to wait two hours to get on and play.
Sorry, i come from a server that matters, Whitemane, with our peak being 22k, not including the second most popular server Faerlina at 20k. Then there’s Firemaw and Gehennas in the EU that had 21k and 22k respectively.
If Blizzard wouldn’t have shot Ironforge Pro in the foot with limited data collection, i’m more than positive those numbers would be close to their peak right now
Please bring back the layering. Came into a 260 min queue on Herod when i logged on at 6pm EST. Pretty much unplayable for an adult working regular business hours.
So after skimming this thread with 2K replies is people either all for it, or vehemently against it with no discernible reason as to why they are against layers. “bUt MuH eCoNoMY” The economy is already 10 kinds of ridiculous (atleast on whitemane). Tanking the price of over-inflated items is not a bad thing.
The world pvp!?!?!?! Will be exactly the same as it currently is. Stupid ganking and griefing with the occasional decent fight.
As it stands currently, I dont know a single guild who is dealing/coping well with the 2-8 hour ques on Whitemane at the moment. The game as it sits currently is almost completely unplayable for the average person in a normal capacity on our server. Even the hardcore #nochangesnolayers guys in my guild are like…alright enough is enough they need to do something about this. No one wants to login 10 hours before a 1-2 hour raid in order to hangout with their friends and have a good time for a little bit. Even worse, the most hard-core players are being affected in a game-ruining way. Eg: Your two main tanks DC due to unrelated normal issues, and get bumped into a 7 hour que 20 minutes before raid. I honestly looked for what the downside of layering would be, and the best I see anyone argue against layering is the component of it in world pvp. Thats an EXTREMELY small price to pay for the ability to have fun in the entire rest of the game/community/guild content. #manylayers #leftside #handleit
Blizzard is doing the initial survey, followed by a survey poll, followed by processing and analysis, followed by beta implementation, followed b–oh shoot everyone quit
Thank god, so since you have 2 functioning brain cells to do that, you can now see why “concurrent” means nothing when most popular servers are CURRENTLY and ACTUALLY dealing with 15k+ populations, with their PEAK being 20k+
We raid at 7 server, but GM tells us to start logging on at 1 server. Feels weird having WoW open for 9ish hours, but only 2ish hours used for actual raiding and game time
I think you should add the layering right now while its decided what to do because playing is better than sitting in hour long queues regardless of the other consequences.
temporarily locking full realms though should also happen until it drops back down to normal non-queue levels. If you lock certain full ones then people go to the other full ones that arent locked causing the same issues.
Its sad to say, but a lot of people need to be forced to do something. They wont join less populated servers voluntarily.
There are not 20k people logged on. The ironforge.pro stats are taken from logs, it’s the number of CHARACTERS detected over a 2 week or all time period.
As it stands Whitemane cannot Raid tonight without layers. Adding layers is the rational thing to do. It’s the few who are upset about layers vs the many who cannot raid. Be bold and decisive. Please Turn layering on so Whitemane can Raid tonight.
