I can’t think of a worse way to experience the new expansion more than watching someone else play an unfinished version of the game.
I’m not saying that I want access to beta, or that everyone should have access.
I’m saying that TESTERS should be prevented from streaming or uploading videos of the game.
I know it will probably never change, but this process really irritates me. It’d be like allowing early access movie critics, who get to see an unfinished version of a movie, to be able to use their phones to live stream and upload recordings of the unfinished movie.
As someone who wants to experience the new content myself - when it’s ready, this beta process is extremely frustrating.
Also, having raid teams who have beta access be able to learn the new bosses before everyone else is unfair when it comes to the race.

Then don’t. Problem solved.

This is literally free advertisement for blizzard
It’s not unfair when you can just buy the expensive version of the expansion to get in. Even then you can watch the footage these people put out (which you are against) to learn the fights

Then don’t watch streamers, untick seeing articles talking about the Beta on Wowhead, and don’t watch YouTubers who do WoW content.
This is literally just a problem for yourself. To not be interested in the development side of games is fine, but don’t try to argue for a ban of it just because it is content you aren’t interested in.

I don’t agree. Having more eyes on it means issues could get noticed that the player might miss. And they can discuss and get more thoughts about certain things that they want to give feedback on.

So don’t do that, you’re in control of the buttons you press.

Beta always has been streamed pretty much ever since there been streamers. If you don’t want to see Beta clips, then simply don’t watch them. The amount of people doing beta compared to those whom stream it, is pretty off set at the moment. There are far more just testing and doing Beta than are streaming it.

I will go as far to say. I understand OP.
While it requires individual effort, it can be very easy to spoil midnight for yourself.
i was thinking about this the other day.
i’m sure the first WoW beta i was in, had a NDA
(it’s a long time ago, and i might be remembering wrong, but i’m pretty sure it WAS a thing)
now beta is just for marketing

if it makes you feel any better, they never respond to feedback or make any changes players actually want, until the xpac goes live and everyone is mad at them.
pretty sure the devs even get mad at you for submitting bugs that “aren’t important” too, so I think it’s a waste of time to do beta’s these days anyway….for blizzard anyway

How do you expect to realistically enforce this?

You know you don’t have to watch them right?

I make a post like this every expansion, and every time I mostly get people giving me a hard time saying things like : “Then don’t watch it”.
First, yes obviously. You say this as if I don’t know that I can try to avoid beta videos.
Second, It’s not about me personally. I have beta access from buying the epic edition. I choose not to play it, mostly because there is still so much on retail that I need to do, but also because I don’t want spoilers.
It’s not about me, having an open beta that most people are experiencing through watching videos or streams of someone else play an unfinished version of the game is not good for the game or for blizzard in my opinion. I get that Blizz is trying to build hype by letting it be see by everyone. I understand that. I just don’t agree that it’s the best way to accomplish that goal. An alternative would be to produce much more curated content. They could make videos about certain features, class change walkthroughs, zone tours, etc. Blizz should not leave the first impression of their game up to some random people who are probably not going to put it in the best light possible.
Easy fix. You don’t have to watch.

Its not really open beta since you have to buy the epic, but no one is making watch the videos , its not like you get ads with beta content lol
