Super easy to setup multiple, too. ![]()
Who said this is a complaint about players still using the ring? I’m more taking a stab at Blizzard for not knowing how to balance things and straight up telling us we will replace this ring in S2, that’s not the case at all.
And there is nothing wrong with wanting to improve myself, if I group with the same class and they are doing better than me, I would like to know why so I can be better.
Ya that like average would save a lot of groups.
The problem with that average is that it will literally depend on the groups you are with.
I can sustain 130k or more depending on the dungeon, Uldaman being significantly higher. But if i die cause the healer just can’t keep up then my average obviously goes down so how to quantify the average?
Very rarely am i dying to something that is just my fault.
BH first boss being a prime example of just healers not able to keep up so you get slapped and die instantly.
How you quantify that average would be super critical
They also told us we’d want it when it came out, though, which turned out not to be the case either. (Hence the multiple rounds of buffs that it took.)
Blizzard doesn’t seem to have the brightest bulbs working on WoW.
I saw this whole thread less as “Nerf the ring” and more as “What the heck went wrong with spec design / tuning that specs are using a proc ring 25 ilvls lower than their current options.”
Keep in mind also that the Annulet for most everyone also provides a measure of healing in addition to the raw DPS.
The Annulet also always “plays optimally” to meet its expected sim output. Even if a regular ring does sim a little higher, for most players, the Annulet will likely still be better in practice because players are not getting optimal “sim” benefit out of their secondary stats; they’re just not playing optimally.
Certain classes dont want it but quite a few WW that are ranked super high on raider io are still using it
Yes and no, sure some tanks and healers are better and you can pull big, but it also weeds out the tank level DPS instantly, because some players no matter how big or small you pull are always doing bad DPS and are the first to die.
Because WW scale terribly and if you cannot use your TOD correctly you lose a ton of DPS, there is no real throughput for WW, but this ring provides a good amount of constant and reliable damage.
The biggest problem with the ring is that it was never good for some specs like destro or spriest and it’s very good for other ones. It was poorly designed.
I’m gonna have to come back to this comment and see what my average is over the past few dungeons
Because remember an average may look like 90k because maybe youve had a few RIP groups because you solo pug life.
It may be 130k because you arent solo pug life
It would weed out those tank dpsers for sure who just don’t pull there weight
I’ll have to come back later today and see i should have my last few dungeons available to sift through to get an average
For me, it’s an easy choice. I will use regular rings over the annulet so I don’t have to get off my lazy little gnome butt and unlock it ![]()
That’s kind of the main reason I want DPS/HPS/interrupts/dispels included with M+ rating and iLVL, not because I want to find that 130K average DPS, they don’t exist in pug land and as we know, it depends on the tank and healer.
But more so that you can see the players with a high rating and iLVL who are doing no DPS, no interrupts, not dispelling afflicted, than you can at least not take someone who is a straight up carry, or worse, join someone’s M18 and realise the keyholder is also the carry.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they make it upgradeable in the .5 patch, by having some shadowflame variant to upgrade it with.
Well it is a good ring, the whole idea of it, it’s what azerite gear should have been and what gear now should be, a way to get a husk of an item, upgrade the item, add stats, add power, and customise to your hearts content.
Sure we will almost always end up on the same item, but the idea of this ring is far better than just hoping RNG gives you something that is an upgrade.
I do not remember that, what I remember is most of the gems not being used. Therefore they buffed a couple other gems to add variety.
Also for old content players, you can put a couple of reactive shields on and just walk through your old content killing everything without casting damage.
I mean it has nothing to do with Annulet and moreso to so with some specs scaling like absolute dogwater with secondaries. It’s crazy that no caster wants to touch the thing with a 10 foot pole, yet vers loving mdps are all for it.
Also even the amount of dps that want it are few and far between all things considered since the ring is usually a minor upgrade if that over 440 rings (which the same scenario would happen with a ring with 2 worst stats at 440 with 2 best at 424).
The first 24 hours or so of the Annulet was a mess. They buffed a bunch of gems, and nerfed and/or bug fixed some others. We’re talking 25-70% buff hotfixes, changes to core mechanics like allowing some stones to crit, breaking interactions between certain stones, etc.
The ring does 10% of my dps.
I struggle to find a point where agility and secondary stats from a single ring will equate to 10% of my dps.
That’s also what I remember. They also nerfed humming so storm and freezing could compete. And even after we learned the magical combination of prophetic, desirous and either freezing or storm they didnt mess with it. Even now on my main who apparently “does not want it”, the ring does more dps than my aberrus trinket. The one that throws globs of shadowflame dots and also dots you. 9% more. And the trinket is heroic to boot
Forgot to say that my main is a destroy lock stacking haste and mastery 3/4 tier. The ring does more dps than even the extra demon fire bolts that I randomly get from the tier. So while I may not “want it” I sure as heck am not replacing it anytime soon. I just replaced a 395 brookeeper ring two days ago because I finally got something that actually is better.
