So we know theres a massive shortage of lotus. The fix for that is clearly giving them a small chance to drop off high level herbs. That also helps combat the bots and destroys the mafia. They can’t just hide and eagle eye farm then. Other resources are also is short supply but not nearly as bad. DS needs and increase of 1-2 layers and NS needs 2-3. That would give around 25% more supply to bring prices down slightly. From there, they need to decimate the bots, especially the ones farming dungeons.

Then the bots will just lock down the zone and we wont find any high level herbs at all lol

It is possible, sadly. It’s amazing how effective people can be when their livelihoods depend on it.
The only real option is to either use the retail approach of what is effectively “shared tag” for resource nodes, or just make all herbs, elixirs, and flasks bind on account (so they can be shared with your alts).
I’m fine with either, but so long as the resources that make raid consumables remain a commodity that can be traded in exchange for gold, and so long as players obsess about par$$$es, this is the mess you will have.
Like for real, go ahead and make your change. It’s not going to matter. Just like increasing the black lotus spawn rate didn’t matter. If you need to suffer with this status quo a little while longer before you realize that the problem isn’t the game, it’s humanity, by all means, enjoy! 
Let’s be real. Blizzard isn’t going to do anything about the herb shortage and they aren’t going to do anything about bots.
IMO there are 3 potential fixes, and while the one you listed is my favorite, I think its the least likely.
Possible Changes (Could be any combination of the three)
- SoM/SoD herb change: Black Lotus has a chance to spawn off any high level herb.
- Layer density: Reduce the number of people required to create a new layer.
- Layer despawning: Increase the time it would take a created layer to despawn.
I think it will be a combination of 2+3. But we shall see.

Where did the whole bot mafia thing come from? Im pretty sure the auction house is just packed with people. No bot mafia needed.
so the price is going down because the supply increased? Cause it hasn’t. We have no idea how they are going to try to fix this and if it will work. We have no idea when being that the post just said they were “looking at it”. The only reason they would be tanking the price of something that only lasts 2 hours the week before parse week when it could be weeks or even months before anything is actually done is because there are massive numbers being withheld from the market to artificially inflate prices.
Go farm on the pvp realm and try to pick a lotus and then come back and tell us there is no mafia. Heck, do it on the hardcore realm lol…

Prove there’s not… Also prove where all these lotus are coming from that are lowering prices… You will 100% get slaughtered if you even get close to one while the ones doing the slaughtering are not fighting each other at all… Increasing spawns drove the prices higher because they controlled more and more of the market . You can claim there is no mafia all you want but there absolutely is. Maybe you don’t want to call it a mafia, maybe syndicate would be more your speed? Just like the coordinated boosting that has been going on since classic first launched? SO much so that blizzard “outlawed” organized boosting groups. You know what would happen if you undercut them on price? That’s right, you were be drug through the mud in chat… You would be mass reported to silence you so you couldn’t advertise… It’s all the same people bud

this hasnt been my experience at all. ive acquired several black lotus out in the world through herbalism. this is absolute nonsense.
these two arent comparable. black lotus is a rare and limited resource. its not controllable in the way a group of people can control the boosting market through mass reports. its not the same thing.

I don’t think a true majority stake would panic sell everything before they know what the fix does, or when it goes in. They just would just hold prices high as long as possible. I could be wrong but it looks like independent actors fleeing the market drive down prices.
