People moved on for reasons other than no borrowed power. That wasn’t even a thing then. Some moved on because their lives got busy, some didn’t like MMOs anymore. Some didn’t like WoD because it had very little content. Some didn’t like the earlier no flying stance.
Legion was eventually good. The first 2 patches the Artifacts and Legendaries were terrible. You couldn’t play a competitive offspec due to AP funneling in to your weapon, and spec specific legendaries. Also the random legendary acquisition was absolutely horrible. This is what we are trying to fix now in SL. I think everyone wants SL to be good in 9.0, and not have to wait until 9.2.
That’s the way games are, can’t please everyone.
I loved legion from start to finish, even got a crappy Legendary at the start (sephuz), the constant progression of the weapon was great imo.
People moved on because they had no reason to play the game. Borrowed power grinding mechanics kept them playing.
I’m guessing you played extremely casually.
Legion was ok, but extremely annoying and frustrating with the legendary/artifact system. If they had brought in the systems from 7.3.5 right with launch it would have easily been the best expansion ever.
Sadly Blizzard doesn’t seem to learn from these repetitious mistakes.
Nope, always been an endgame raider, heroic before mythic existed and shooting for CE every patch after until BfA killed my drive to play.
No it really didn’t. People left during BFA too. Guilds fell apart, lol.
This here. This is why we don’t want to gate people with arbitrary reasons. It’s the only reason that needs to be said over and over and over.
So you think running Maw of Souls 900 times a week, not being able to play an offspec or alt, and potentially losing your raid spot because you got the wrong legendary was fun gameplay? Like if the systems from 7.3.5 were in at 7.0, you are saying it would have been worse?
I would honestly bet that BFA is currently at an all time low in WoWs sub numbers, excluding classic subs of course.
My guild disbanded after Uldir because it just wasn’t fun and people weren’t logging on anymore.
We didn’t run Maw of Souls 900 times a week, we weren’t looking for WF or even world 100, we just were looking for CE, we don’t have a bench, we let people play what they want.
Essences were some of the reasons some classes became really playable, and it really was the only saving grace in a bad azerite system. I’m hoping that with the class changes and things like that, it won’t be so bad, but there are a few classes that are going to have some struggles with the traits and essences getting taken away unless they fundamentally change the classes to help them.
I’d have preferred they stuck with tiers and sets, or new talent rows like they used to but they’re really liking this borrowed power thing so they can just trash everything at the end of the expansion lol.
If you didn’t have 54 traits and at least 1 bis Legendary in Nighthold you didn’t get past Star Augur, you probably didn’t get past Krosus. So I’m having trouble believing you actually just casually got CE in Legion after EN.
It allows them to try things without people thinking it’s going to be sticking around like old abilities.
Like Corruptions… which failed so bad even they said it broke the game.
Nighthold was out for like 5 months, we had those things by the end. Mythic raiding isn’t so hard it’s undoable without perfect crap.
So you just pulled Krosus for 3 months until everyone got that stuff, then magically cleared the rest of the raid in 2 months?
I’d just like to see my character learn some new tricks again at one point, it’s weird that our characters have been paused for 3 expansions on growth, that used to be part of the fun of hitting max level was getting some neat talent or spells and that’d been gone for quite a while. And I understand they were worried about spell bloat, however, I think it’d be ok to give us new spells again someday and not just the ones they took away from pruning lol.
My other guild fell apart during this expac too. It’s sad. But I still do some stuff with one of my old guildies that is still around.
