I hate the removal of player agency and the gutting of classes. They’re related (sometimes), so I count them as one.
I don’t think there’s less agency, I believe there was a false sense of agency back in the day because of the talent trees and class abilities that we had access to. Yet, if you look at the DPS rotation in Vanilla of Mages, they basically just spam frost bolt as a meta rotation. If you are talking about agency within class customization, I don’t think it’s ever been a huge thing, but if you are talking about what you do within the game itself content wise, I agree.
I personally think MoP was the best for class design. Every class had a lot of utility, and had their niche within the game. Now all classes are so similar to each other and they all do everything.
These people ruin the damn game
Oh I know, but still related to WoW as the OP asked.
But in game I guess it’d be artifacts. I’m not a fan of them and I like the old fashioned standard of gearing more. I’d rather see more gear customization on normal gear like we had in the past, instead of a second power system we have to grind into oblivion.
Well… yours is easily fixable. Since you hate the forums and they frustrate you, don’t read them
one thing would be retail
I actually don’t like the old talent trees. I like the concept of what we have now. I actually change between two talents for a couple rows on some of my classes.
In terms of agency, the removal of reforging, the removal of all kinds of spells that made you feel more unique as a class and how you operated, the removal of VP to help your class get the upgrades it actually needed… As I said, they’re related only sometimes.
Player agency is removing player choice for pretty much anything. It’s Blizzard saying that you’re playing the game wrong. Why remove tabards as a form of grinding rep? Why remove portals from old cities? Let people use the hubs they want. Why make players have to be involved in every kind of content to move forward in this game — why can’t we just play the parts that we want to play? Why were PvP vendors removed — why can’t we make those choices in terms of gear? Why are we subjected to so much RNG instead of allowing us to forge our own paths?
Blizzard has removed or restricted so many things in this game that I feel like I’m being pigeonholed into a certain style of play, whereas I had more freedom before.
As for classes, if they feel like crap to play, pretty much all content is affected.
If my brain wasn’t such mush right now, maybe I could explain better and provide more examples, but this is the gist of it.
Yeah and that’s what I agree with, there is no agency anymore content wise. I feel like the classes are super bland now, but there wasn’t ever really a time where you could truly customize your class and perform at the highest level competitively with the best version of your class’s spec.
But I agree, we are funneled into the way Blizzard thinks we should play the game. Like you said, a great example of this is PvP vendors being gone.
The toxic, ignorant, and immature side of the community.
you dont like za warudo Warcraft retail?
muda intensifies
I can agree with this to an extent. The problem is that any form of customization that felt like you had control has basically been removed. Reforging wasn’t the most exciting thing, but I could at least lose some of the crap stat I didn’t want. I also miss having more gem and enchant slots available.
That stupid necklace. I don’t even know if I will continue into the next expansion if they have another thing like that.
I don’t mind grinding, I was the 2nd person on the server to get the Winterspring Frostsaber, but this thing is just… horrible awful very bad not fun.
Spiders. The giant WoW spiders have freaked me out for 15 years.
The baddies have planted their flag (which they bought on the blizz store) on the corpse of this once great game.
Honestly, nothing. Things bother me sometimes but nothing that makes me go THIS GAME IS RUINED!!! I still find fun:) if something bothers me I turn the other way and pick a new path or tough it through till it does get better.
Wow. When I made this thread I wasn’t expecting so many replies. Thanks guys, ladies and that one Gnome who totally didn’t leave a cookie. hides cookie in back pocket
Two things: the layout of most Horde cities, and the fact that the writing turned our characters into bit players in someone else’s story.
Lack of player agency.
For an open world MMORPG Blizzard gives us little or no choice in character development.
We have class and race and where we play as the only choices. Our races tells us our faction, our class has no option besides the very limited “skill tree” which usually is 1 option is required and 2 options that are meaningless, or what flavore of survivablity.
And until the horde choice of rebel or loyal quests had no choices.
The devs and their obsession with Money over Quality
Keep giving it to them.
