One thing I really miss

Holding people accountable.

Say you’re in Wetlands and there someone in the general chat, being toxic, basically agitating the entire zone.

It was a amazing experience to sign over to your toon on the opposite faction, find the guy…and just destroy him. Once he starts being killed, he either stops talking on the general channel or the topic of his convo’s change to something more appealing like….”OMG, I’m being camped by this horde mage, someone come help” of course…..nobody would help that little toxic dweeb, he was getting what he deserved.

I spent years hunting people in this game. All of them were toxic and a cancer to the game. I even remember many years ago, I had this acquaintance in game, he had a pally, I had a DK (Both horde) and one day he decided he wanted to duel me. He lost and it was at that point I found out how little respect he had for me as a player because he talked BIG trash, unfriended me and refused to speak to me again…..because he lost a duel.

From that point on, I would sign over to my gnome warlock (OH, this was during WOTLK) and I would go find him….and promptly kill him. This went on for over a year. Whenever I was bored, I would sign over to my warlock, go find that B.E pally….and destroy him. I never told him it was me, I never revealed that I was the gnome warlock killing him on a regular basis. I used apps like SPY and Paranoia which would alert me to players of the opposing faction that were near, easily target them….and let the carnage begin, GREAT TIMES!!! Depending on your target and their level, you could also figure out where they were questing and even what quest chain they were working on. It was a side of this game very few people got to experience but let me tell you, it was amazing.

Now with all the layers on every server, simply signing over and going to find your target has been made exponentially more difficult. Blizzard also bans add ons that alert you to the presence of anyone on the opposing faction. Why remove this side of the game?

I personally don’t understand why this aspect of the game was eliminated. Now, to even see the location of someone on your friend list you both have to agree to be friends, before, you simply added someone to your friend list and you would see their rough location but still had to search whatever zone they were in, that’s where your tracking instincts and knowledge of quest chains came in.

Gone are they days of making people in this game even remotely accountable and it’s a shame. This was also another aspect of PVP that apparently the developers decided to remove?

Now I know what type of response this thread will yield: 2 types of responses, 1 from players who engaged in the same tactic, enjoyed it or love PVP and will admire the dedication it takes to actively target, track and kill toxic players.

The other type will be from the people I normally targeted. “Reeee you are the bad guy for engaging in that behavior, toxic people should be allowed to corrupt and ruin the game for others without any chance of reprisal”

I miss those days and I will wager, some of my past targets are reading this thread right now.

I really enjoyed slaughtering you, it made the game better.

Nobody cares about your delusional batman fantasy of camping low level players on a PvP server

This post shows why layering is good not bad.

None of this ever happened.

And the 3 responses that have shown up are very likely people who are incredibly toxic in-game.

Just look at those responses

“Der, batman fantasy”

“Der, none of this happened”

“Der, layering is great, it protects us”

Dang, I miss those days even more now

No value in camping some random player on a pvp server.

However, camping ANY level player who ruins the experience for others?

Priceless

Maybe you didn’t know but you couldn’t have cross faction toons originally on PvP servers. So yes it’s a delusional fantasy that didn’t happen. Larp harder.

Do your research before posting responses.

Once WOTLK came out, you could have toons from both factions on one account.

Not only that but I also have 2 accounts.

And I’m not talking about any classic version little boy. The original WOTLK.

The future is now old man

therapy exists bro.

Well, reading this topic makes me want to point out the third option: I agree toxic people should be dealt with, but by ganking them, camping them, etc… you’re adding to the toxicity and not helping it in any way.

Your whole dear diary post was about how you miss hunting down lowbies on your max level character to camp in the world. Just to be clear

It’s also about how he befriended and meticulously stalked another player he didn’t like, over the course of a year, in the name of justice or whatever.

legitimately psychotic behavior.

I didn’t read that far, what a psycho

Weird or intense attention-seeking behavior, particularly online, often suggests Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD). This condition involves a constant need to be the center of attention, driven by exaggerated emotions, dramatic storytelling, and provocative or shocking online posts to gain validation.

Underlying Factors & Diagnosis
HPD is a psychiatric condition likely caused by a combination of genetics and early childhood experiences. It is often diagnosed in early adulthood and frequently co-occurs with depression, anxiety, or substance abuse.

Now that you know, you can go get help.

Sounds like a frosty thread. He loves telling stories about himself
