Sylvanas is always the good person as we’re all saved from this place as Azeroth is a prison.
I believe Uther was an exception, like the Light granting him semi-protection over the Frostmourne, so he managed to ascend to the SL with the other half of his soul. You can see clearly that half is golden, as if being saved by the Light, just before he actually asks for it to be guarded.
you would know if you payed attention
actually i think it makes more sense that the blade rendered all souls it takes - the blade traps the parts of the soul that wouldnt make a good DK that way those raised to be DK there souls dark twisted and why they obey the lich cause part of the soul still trapped - also show in the frost dk artifact when you go into the blade and the good part of arthas still in it fighting
(makes a gagging sound)
They better not. I’m not sure I would be able to stomach that level of awful.

All along I had thought and believed that the Frostmourne consumed the souls.
Ever since Sylvanas, ranger general, power-slid into Frostmourne as then raised as a banshee, it’s been obvious that Frostmourne is no Stormbringer.
Black blade, drinker of souls?
Splitting and reassembling souls is apparently not a huge deal from the way we got shredded by Helya in Legion and then went around reassembling outselves.
The “tech” of Frostmorne is out there, but it will be interesting to explore if Uther was a rare case of the light wrestling away a piece from the sword or if this has been happening to all souls it strikes.
(it would be interesting if we are seeing the Light and Darkness cooperatively trying to unmake souls forged of the intermingling of their opposing energies)
That’s the one. Maybe Frostmourne was originally written as if it was like Stormbringer (or Mournblade) but Blizzard’s stories seem to change frequently.
Even now when looking up that blade it says " When they crafted the Frostmourne , they had shielded themselves from its power so that their souls wouldn’t be consumed" So I just took it that it also consumed anyone it killed aswell.
I had also thought that, but I do think Blizzard is rewriting the lore even though the rewrite may not have been deliberately planned.
Consume is probably an ambiguous word to use in this context. Consuming something gives a different vibe if you are talking about “eating” something rather than destroying it. Using something doesn’t necessarily mean destroying it completely.
Maybe, just maybe the lore was meaning something different all along like in that Movie the Two Towers and Hobbits? “My precious” Gollum was consumed by it.
Yep… but that is what they’re going to do… and then they’re going to make Uther a villain…
The light most likely saved part of him. Because it really wouldn’t do for a ton of souls to be torn when they went to the shadowlands. That would cause some real chaos in shadowlands.
Well we already know the realm of death is broken and not working correctly so maybe the split from Frostmourne has something to do with that.
Also they could be setting the stage for Uther to be bad. Justice/revenge, what’s the difference? And he already help break the laws of the Shadowlands.
trying to rationalize bad writing
Let me give you a better understanding. So yes, his soul was trapped within frostmourne. But during wrath he told us that we must kill him over the citadel which is the frozen throne.
How did he know this and where did he get it from? We are unsure of it but maybe we know the answer.
How was he able to get to the shadowlands and into bastion was in the video itself. At first we thought his soul stays trapped within frostmourne but seeing what he asked the light which is to save his soul, and the vision when Devos touched his wound, two parts of his soul split. This was part of the reason why he couldn’t ascend. Knowing Uther, he was a righteous being and I’m pretty sure he would ascend as soon as he step into Bastion, but something was wrong and they told Devos that to drop this quest and let him be.
Now if the Light was strong why would it take to Uthers whole soul? Because Frostmourne controls the Maw and the Maw and Jailer are very powerful and it must take a soul the Light isn’t weak neither. I say they equally match which is why the Light took part of his soul so that way he can have his justice and ascension and to aid us during the Lich King.
I’m pretty sure we’ll get a good explanation in Shadowlands about why this happened but I feel like I understand it easily. It was confusing at first but knowing the Light saves those that are it’s slave, The Light is very strong when it comes to Paladins like Uther.
