One Rift Traveler

Violating the forum rules because someone disagrees with you is not adult behavior.

You should try having buddies sometime.

It makes everything more fun.

I make every effort to not grief people ingame.

I simply do not approve of witchhunts based on “common sense” or your “feelings”.

My level 5 just got one-shotted in the Razor Hill Inn by Lost One Rift Traveler. I wasn’t even AFK; I dinged 5, ran to the inn, got there and was setting my hearth, and out of nowhere a skull-level mob appeared started killing players.

I’m baffled by all the back-and-forth about whether this is/isn’t intentional griefing. I expect that after Blizzard becomes aware that this is happening, then they will make an adjustment so Lost One Rift Traveler can’t follow along in a hearth or port.

On the server when it happened the peanut gallery started hollering “you’re not getting rezzed, there’s no rezzes and you had to click that you agreed when you signed up!!!” … I didn’t ask for a rez and I’m not asking for someone to get banned either. But I’d like to help call attention to the issue so Blizz can fix it.

Saying that Blizz doesn’t care about issues like this would be like saying they don’t care about DDoS or other server instability. Of course they care and they work hard to prevent that. Just because there’s not going to be forthcoming character restores doesn’t mean they’re indifferent to game disruption.

I was also there. After we all died I exclaimed ‘What is a Lost One Rift Traveler?!’. I get the whole never resurrecting Hardcore characters, but this was clearly not the players faults.

Blizzard has know about this for 19 years.

A disconnect resulting in death isn’t the players’ faults either. I wouldn’t expect Blizzard to restore characters because of a disconnect issue on Blizzard’s end… but I do expect them to do what they can to prevent unscheduled service interruptions. I don’t mean to split hairs, but the issue is disruption of gameplay overall, not whether the low-level players who died were at fault in any way (even though, obviously we weren’t).

Hardcore mode has not been around for 19 years. But Blizzard did a general fix to prevent higher-level mobs from being kited into low-level areas in vanilla, way back when.

A single mob that utilizes a glitch to be “kited” into low-level area apparently wasn’t a priority to fix during all these years when getting killed meant hurt pride, a couple minutes of nuisance running, and a repair bill. Now that there’s a game mode where death is permanent, Blizzard will address this mob-specific kiting issue that goes against their intent of how gameplay should work.

They seem pretty happy with it, so far.

It does suck to die to something like that, but if you feel this is an unintended function of a game mechanism it should probably go in the bug report forum.

I made a thread in the Bug Report section of the Wow Classic forum. Thanks for the constructive response.

Yeah, this is happening quite a bit. I posted a screenshot above showing deaths in Durotar to it. The Sun buff excuse can’t be used with Razor Hill. There’s not even a flight path there so it’s a bad hearth spot for any level 38+ who would get this debuff.

Reporting the player doing it and reporting the issue is the play. Whether he’s guilty or innocent is Blizzards call not ours. So reporting people who you suspect is fine. Nothing will happen if they aren’t considered “guilty” by Blizzard.

This stuff has been getting patched out on hardcore. Posting about it in bug report was a good idea. There was an honor calculation issue on Era that people were trying to hide and that got posted about over there and fixed within a week.

Close to a year later and I just saw someone died to one of these things. I didn’t know what it was, but I had a suspicion it was a grief, searched for the name of the mob and this thread confirms it. Blizzard barely pays attention to Hardcore. They still have quest mobs hyperspawning even though the server populations are not high. It feels as neglected as Classic Era at this point.
