Vanilla Alliance story, especially in Human zones, were pretty top tier. You should also experience Duskwood when Classic releases tomorrow, the Stalvan questline was pretty good.
Thing is though, Alliance can have more political intrigue and stains on its armor, sure. It should not be evil though, being written as evil is not the correct way to write the Alliance because a core theme of the Alliance is being heroic.
