One fatal flaw of shadowlands throughout the expansion: returning players

Yes, you as a player who as done this many times early in the expansion and has flight can complete it in a few hours given access to skips that a new player is unable to use. Which is entirely irrelevant, given that a recently arrived player does not have flight and is bogged down in trying to earn renown and anima.

^Don’t bother with trolls like this. “Never played SL” lol.

OP, the main drag is getting your 1st toon through the main story line, and then the other partial story lines that’ll give you flying. Not sure how much you can play but it took me maybe 2-3 weeks of ‘regular play sessions’ to do that, where i was also playing epic BGs when they popped. After that it wasn’t too hard to get honor gear for some fun in BGs. If you’re more interested in dungeons then i dunno - not my interest. Seems a bit late to bother except to do stuff for fun. Anyway, right now it’s just about prepping and leveling toons for DF, if you want…

Its not about you being lucky. To them 5 heroics took 4+ hours  and if they cant gear up in one “marathon” session of a whole 5 dungeons, they’re done. This isn’t the genre for players like that, much less the game.

Asked me if I wanted to go to my capital city because I been away for awhile. Nope. I just went to Oribos and the quest came up. I don’t know what the trigger is but just play SL and the quest will appear.

I returned three weeks ago fool. I have all covenants at 80 reknown and 6 toons at 60. Don’t “troll “ me because I was capable of this feat.

I literally never played shadowlands. I just do my research, and gathered all catch up items . I still can’t fly in bfa and never will.

I never asked to be “geared up” within 5 hours.

Could we stop with the hyperbole?

I’m saying that ONE piece of gear (which wasn’t even something I could use) while I watched everybody else get gear, is a bit disheartening and not really fair.

I prefer steady consistent rewards over doing something over and over again and getting zero progress at all, and even worse, watching everybody ELSE get stuff.

All five of us were there, doing the content. Why am I getting left out several times in a row? It just sucks, it’s a bad feeling.

You have achievs from earlier than that, so no you didn’t.

Also still no video evidence of your claim!

I mean this is understandable behavior if you’re 5 years old. I bet your parents gave you a present on other people’s birthdays didnt they? Sometimes other ppl get loot and you dont. Sometimes rng runs bad for a bit. Stick with it like everyone else and you’ll see the fruits of your labor. Tapping out after one session of five dungeons is just sad and juvenile

You still harassing me? Time for a report. I asked you to stop. I dont care to feed your trolling.

My best friend returned after only playing 9.0 (finished Castle Nathria than 9.1 absolutely ruined all interest, which can’t blame them at all). They were completely lost on where to go or how to get started since they stopped midway through the story of the expansion. Rather than spend the time looking for where to pick up, they just decided to stop playing until the real prepatch. It’s definitely not returning player friendly. For people like me who played the entire time, it’s all super easy and I’ve leveled and geared over 16 characters without issue. But for someone who was already disillusioned by the trash expansion, they had a hard time coming back even though they’re excited for Dragonflight. I do hope Blizzard has learned.

Replying to you, without insults or anything else derogatory, is not harassment. You made the claim that you could get through all sorts of stuff in an allotted time, you refuse to actually prove it - that’s on you. You fit the definition of

more than I.

If you don’t like seeing my posts - feel free to ‘research’ how to use a forum ignore.

well yeah if they don’t want to put in 3 minutes of effort to figure out where to start I don’t blame them for quitting either.

I helped my brother and his fiance get Jiglesworth, Sr.* when they never raided in this game before; my brother left during Cataclysm and returned casually in Battle for Azeroth and his fiance just started playing then or during Shadowlands.

*The word “jig” with to g’s is not allowed even though that is the official name of the mount? What the heck is this forum rule???

It wasn’t just one session, it was multiple sessions, several dungeons each. I was just noting the worst of them. I had tried several times between BfA and Shadowlands, usually 3-4 dungeons per session and lo and behold, I’d end up walking away with nothing, or the stupid dungeon dropping one out of 2-3 pieces that I didn’t need (like, if the dungeon was supposed to drop i200, I’d be wearing one or two pieces of i200 and the rest were like i150 and I’d give me one of the i200s that I was already wearing that I got through other means).

An average of getting a piece of gear maybe one in ten runs, and over half of those, I wound up being the only person in the group to get nothing, and in the rest, 1 of 2 people who got nothing the whole run.

It was pretty consistent.

There needs to be some sort of badges system or something so that if RNG is bad, you have something that you get out of these dungeons other than worthless gold (and the amount of gold received doesn’t even come close to the amount of work you put into the dungeon, like, you can spend 15 minutes to do an Emissary box and get 1500g and you spend 25-30 minutes between the Q time and the actual dungeon and get 100g, it’s rather stupid).

EDIT: Also, the birthday example is stupid. This isn’t 1 person having a birthday party getting gifts. It’s 5 people showing up, putting in the work to do something, and 4 out of the 5 people get rewards and 1 person gets nothing. How is that hard to understand that it would feel bad after that happening 90% of the time?

How would you like to work for a small business that employs 5 people and your boss pays everybody but you a paycheck at the end of the week? Or, well, ok. Let’s say your boss writes a paycheck for everybody except you, and instead hands you a hamburger and a soda.

I get really, ridiculously tired of your garbage takes.

It’s braindead easy to complete a campaign. It’s only going to take a few hours. This is an MMO. The genre is known for eating up a great deal of time. Anyone who expects anything else is playing the wrong game. With that being said-pretending like clearing the campaigns is an actual issue is a joke.

Anyone who spent 1-60 leveling is going to be 100% capable of knocking out any covenant campaign with relative ease and speed. The game isn’t designed for nEW AnD ReTURnING players to be on an even footing the moment they come into the game or come back. This isn’t controversial, no matter how much you want it to be.

Everyone starts fresh in DF. No “catch up” mechanics necessary.

Fresh account, zero time spent in any content, any expansion.

Time spent : Getting to Naxx 40
Time spent : Getting into Sunwell
Time spent : Getting into ICC
Time spent : Getting into Dragon Soul
Time spent : Getting into Siege

You get the idea.

If you skipped an expansion, why are you expecting to be fully caught up ? This is an RPG, not Call of Duty.

They are wanting to GET caught up, and are asking how much crap they’d have to wade through in order to make that happen.

Shadowlands has a decent amount of required quest junk to open up the catchup methods.

For example, in MoP… you got max level, and there was like one quest and off you go to Timeless Isle.

Get renown to 80. Get Legendaries. Get gear.

Not exactly rocket science.
