On tanking

I’m wanting to make and lvl as a tank. I’m interested in pally tank and demon Hunter tank but open to suggestions as I’ve never really talked in lfr groups or really anything.

I super love brewmaster in raid and blood dk in dungeons. I love warrior tank in pvp but don’t tell! Shh!

Paladin is the best for beginners imo,

It has a lot of emergency buttons

Pally > DH

If you are set on those 2 classes only, purely because pally also has dps/heals offspec so if you’re ever too braindead to tank you have more choices.

Leveling a pally tank is ruff in dungeons. Max is different. But leveling right now, you’re going to have threat issues. All of your abilities have a CD, avengers shield will be your only ranged attack, and a level 16 mage is going to constantly pull for you and rip threat off you.

If you want to level as a tank I’d suggest a tank with a spamable AOE or multiple AOEs.

Paly is quite good and the easier to begin with

Is go with guardian Druid.impossible to mess up. Paladin can be messed up and veng DH may be a little more complex with sigils.

Guardian is just spam thrash. It’s literally that easy.

I’d roll a DH myself, no need to roll one of those bubble hearthing church knights. More Dio, less Stryper

I have never had trouble holding thread I’ve leveled 6 recently.

But to be fair a low level arcane mage is going to pull threat from any tank

Bear easiest beginner tank. Got decent defensives and the easiest rotation. Just queue and go. Dungeons are fairly easy levelling. Capable doing most keys as well but struggle outside their big CD

Pally seems a fan fave but rotation is clunky to me until you get higher levels and get more haste. Can do a ton damage and interrupt king

Warrior seemed the most fun levelling though feels rough max in terms of playstyle but its very stout

DH similar to bear super simple rotation but super squishy at any level your health will yo yo some like but not for me

Brew/DK squishy low levels but once you get near max they get super tanky. Brews will never get oneshot until like M+ 40 keys and Blood good to the highest possible keys that are timeable by a capable group but very few will do those +30ish keys. Blood is insane if you get gavel its why its the meta as its DPS is what carries it probaby

For leveling I like pally, bear, and monk.
Pallys slam damage from early on and continue to have good group utility throughout leveling when played well. As a healer it seems like they hit a weird squishy spot here and there where they don’t have enough haste or defensives to keep them from getting smashed at times, but as a fairly competent healer I can still keep em breathing.
Bears handle things pretty darn good throughout leveling, and I can’t recall healing any that were super squishy at any point.
Monks have the most fun gameplay to me, and stagger helps spread out the face plant damage they would otherwise take on the chin. As a healer they aren’t super scary to heal, so long as they reliably clear stagger and don’t start melting from their own dot basically.
The other tanks really aren’t too terrible through the process either.
Vdh can get clobbered if they jump into a pack without spikes up. Once you get the feel for what to do to help your healer and keep your butt alive between defensives it is pretty solid also.
The only reason I didnt include it in my first few is that I tend to play classes that can handle all 3 roles, so most of my leveling experience on vdh was healing them. I have a max level vdh that I’ve played since legion, but haven’t leveled one personally since the level squish.
