Omg why is hunter so boring?

Considering I can solo pretty much anything outside of instances from day 1, I like my hunter.

I actually wish Blizzard would’ve made the Survival spec a tank or healer role.

Actually, it’s in 3rd place behind Druid and Paladin.

  1. Pet collecting. Far and away why everyone has a hunter.
  2. Content farming.
    a) Pocket tank
    b) Above average DPS from mindlessly face smashing the keyboard
  3. Mobile, ranged physical DPS
  4. 1 of only 2 “shooter” or gun/bow specs in the game
  5. Being boring but effective by face smashing makes them good for doing content while alt-tabbed to Netflix

The goold ol’ days ;(

Umm hunters are by far the least boring class. Retail DH, Mage, Fury, and Warlock took that crown for me. Learn to micromanage your pet? I use larger combination of abilities then the four I mentioned.

Try Survival, it’s hella fun now, I have 2 mains (one on each side) and they are both survival, what’s more fun than throwing bombs in your enemies faces and joining your pet in melee by smacking them upside the head with your polearm.

Hmm I may need to look into this!

Hunter seems to be the starter class. It’s the class that takes the least amount of effort to play effectively. If you want a challenge I suggest Survival. The skill cap with this specialization is set fairly high whereas Beast Master is the easiest game play and Marksmanship is somewhere in the middle.

If you want more a challenge but want to fight from afar I recommend trying Mage or Warlock.

It’s funny you say that since that’s exactly what this hunter was. Back in 2007 or so when I got into WoW, I had never played an MMO and had no idea what to do, so my friend suggested I play a hunter haha. I did for a while before picking up this Priest. I really only played it in BC I think and have only hopped on it here and there since then (which is probably why it was still 73 when I hopped back on earlier this week).

But yea I read another poster suggesting Survival and it sounds like more fun so I’m going to try that out. It’s the only spec I haven’t tried yet. Just doing my Hunter to complete Outlands Zone Quest achievements. But I do have a mage and a warlock (more than one actually) and I vastly prefer magic classes. Much more fun!

I’m having fun with survival. The combo of ranged/melee feels good to me. Plus standing in the fray with your pet is pretty cool.

Man, if you think it’s bad now, it was just terrible during the legion launch. I skipped that expansion on account of what they did to my main and haven’t touched her since then. After they neutered our utilities, took away our speed, our camo, and all the fun little garnish spells like eye of the beast, it was a shell of itself. Tons of classes feel empty now, but hunter was hit the hardest. When the Prunes-a-Lot team actually starts adding back abilities? You know they screwed up bad.

Let’s just say, that when I tried survival for the first time, I dropped my 10 year old main that I’ve had since wrath and instantly switched it to my main. It’s that fun!

p.s. Beetle is one of the best pve pets I’ve found as it has a shield that it can use itself to mitigate damage as well as providing you and you pet another shield on top of it’s own, lets you easily solo the rares and most of the elites in the world too. It’s also good for pvp too, as it’s basically unkillable with both it’s own shield and the one from the pet family ability, it’s really good to set on an enemy healer to just constantly harass them :stuck_out_tongue:

Answer: All of the flavor is gone.

I’ve tried to point this out many times. The whole thing about “a shot you have to aim has take time” apparently trumps the very idea of hunter I guess. Honestly I wish they’d go back to when it had a CD instead.

Rapid fire isn’t the end of the world though. It’s annoying if the mob dies in the middle of it, but not a deal breaker for me.

Survival is easily the most fun spec for Hunters, but it pales in comparison to how awesome it was back in Legion.

Yeah, or instead of wasting your time in a pvp match, Blizzard could fix pathing. Pets still constantly freeze when using glider. Or you land from a flightmaster and it’s 50/50 if your pet is there. I haven’t seen much improvement over time, apparently they can’t fix it.

Please elaborate.

What I know is Hunter is easy to learn but hard to master. Skill cap is so high. At low level, I can pull all mobs and still be able to escape without dying. At any level, I can kill any non boss elites in solo. On a raid or dungeon, I rarely die on wipes… many times I was the last one who survived. There are many gimmicks you can do with pet, traps, disengage and feign death. If these stuffs are boring for you, you just need to learn to play.

The skill cap is really not high compared to many other classes. There’s only a handful of dps skills between you and your pet and they’re not complicated to learn. There’s some nice CC and interrupts but it’s fairly obvious how to use them. You can solo elites on nearly any class and hunter being one of the easiest, you’d be terrible if you couldn’t as well. The class is boring because it’s not complicated and not fun. Even Arcane mage, which is also rather simple, has more to think about and is more fun to play in general.

But I also main healing classes because back in the BC days I got so bored of dps I needed another challenge. I mean look at me, I’m a Disc Priest at a time when it’s a class that has to work harder to achieve on average less than other healers, but I do it because it’s fun.

I’ve always enjoyed hunter. Now with all the heals BM has we are super strong, I have better survivability on this 370 hunter than my 404 Spriest.

One of the most fun class abilities to me is setting a high explosive trap in middle of Eye of the Storm, seeing a nub trigger it and watching all the nubs fly off into the nether.

I bet your aoe damage is pretty impressive without using arcane explosion.
