Old character models were better : (

Three cheers for exaggerated sensationalism!

Fun fact: Disney often doesnt use original character designs. Most are saved designs from decades older than you would think due to Don Bluth creating a stockpile worth of designs during his time there and Disney claiming copyright to them before he left.

Most modern character designs share very similar to even same design aspects of Don Bluth’s earlier works not associated with film animation, such as Dragon’s Lair and Space Ace.
This is often confused as “Disney” despite that it is sometimes a singular creator that helped mold and push the boundaries of modern design and animation while often being forgotten about.

While the old models are there and have their own unique nostalgic charm, those designs could not then, nor now express the depth and detail of the artists and devs’ inspirations. Which range from Jim Henson, Julie Bell, Boris Vallejo as well as Don Bluth to even yes Dan Hansen.
