Celebrate 15 Years of World of Warcraft

This November marks the 15th anniversary of World of Warcraft, and we have some special things planned to celebrate the occasion. Players who log in during the event period will receive a celebration package in the mail with a Lil’ Nefarian pet and some other in-game goodies. Throughout the duration of the event, you’ll be able to participate in three unique raids with iconic encounters from past expansions along with an old-school-inspired Alterac Valley battleground. Players who defeat all nine bosses in the raid wings will receive the Obsidian Worldbreaker, a Black Dragonflight mount inspired by Deathwing.

Players who participate in Alterac Valley will receive a new anniversary event currency which can be exchanged for two new mounts: the Stormpike Battle Charger (Alliance) and the Frostwolf Snarler (Horde).

I was in a AV this morning. It was a dead match, both teams had bunkers/towers outside of the Boss.

But then suddenly we went from 1 to 50, to 77, then the number just suddenly hit 200. We all escorted the quest giver and summoned Frost Lord.

This needs to be a permanent option or a brawl for sure after the anniversary ends. I’m very excited!

Will we? Isn’t the content, including battlegrounds, being phased into their content release schedule? From my understanding not everything will be available at launch.

If the battle charger looks like the original, it’s pretty much just a goat. My main in vanilla had one because I was too gold-poor to buy the epic mount.

If it plays well (look at all the cheering when WG was announced, compared to how many complaints about it now), I wouldn’t be surprised if it was given a queue all by itself. Old AV has been asked for by many for a long, long time.

Tarren Mill was also introduced for the 10th anniversary and later made a comeback for the brawl. Given that Endless Ashran is in the brawl queue, I think this could be a testing period that could later translate to it being in the brawl queue. Which would be great.
