How come DKs keep getting bad looking armor tier sets? (Transmog)
We need whoever designed the upcoming 11.0.5 tier 2 set to continue designing the rest of the dk armor sets for the rest of this expansion. Because I don’t want to go another expansion (Pointing at you Dragon flight) where majority of the armor sets dont look good and dont match out class at all. It feels like we haven’t had any good sets since legion.
Let me elaborate…
- DF season 1 set: was literally a rock and didn’t look good, nothing more to say about that.
- DF season 2 set: was completely bad, I mean what exactly is up with that helmet its hideous. It looks like its literally a copy and paste bootlegged of tier 8 but looks way worse.
- DF season 3/4 set: was actually pretty good BUT was the only one of DF that really matched our class out of the 4 seasons that we had. Only 1 set out of 4 seasons for a whole expansion being atleast decent is not good, especially since for comparison: priest had good looking sets for the entire expansion of Dragonflight for every season. So I know they can make good sets but I just don’t know where the disconnect is for whoever is designing the DK mogs.
- TWW season 1 set: To be honest I don’t understand how we went from season 3/4 to this but its gotta stop. It just looks like you pasted skulls on a piece of armor and called it a day. Nobody likes this, it simply does not look good. Its weird because I’m looking at the other plate classes warrior and paladins and their new armor sets both look good and are very unique and matches their class well, I don’t get how we’re the odd class out. The only thing that will save season 1 for us is the fact that dks are getting our own tier 2 when 11.0.5 becomes live and it looks pretty awesome.
Ultimately I feel like our only path moving forward is for blizzard to either bring back the legion designers for the DK sets or bring in the person who designed tier 2 DK to design the rest of our sets for the expac, or better yet start brainstorming original mogs that you can give us that matches out class and that look cool.
Also if you don’t take anything else from my post then take that we need a lil more originality with our armor sets and not the same old copy and past it feels that we get every season. We need dark vibes, we need skulls, we need vampire aesthetic, maybe with a little bit of emo/edgy/goth mixed in, maybe a little more of the Knight aesthetic as well. We basically need more mogs that fits the fantasy and looks cool doing it.
I understand that we all have our own tastes in transmog and I originally wasn’t going to post this but I don’t want another season to go by where all my friends are running around in their cool new class armor sets but I cant because mines just doesn’t look cool enough and we all know that a good transmog gives you a 10% increase in dmg.

These are mutually exclusive statements.
The remastered tier 2 is just another Arthas-themed LARP set. That’s not necessarily a bad thing - especially since it’s generally one of the better sets for that theme - but saying you want originality while praising T2 when it’s just another flavor of Wrath (T8, T10), Legion (T19, T21) & Dragonflight (T30) and saying that T29 is bad when it’s one of the most original DK sets to exist is a real head scratcher.
You also say you want more originality but want “more skulls and dark vibes”, which is already 99% of DK sets. If you’re praising the typical DK aesthetic and condemning the ones that actually take some risks, then it doesn’t sound like you want original, it really just sounds like you want what DKs already get for sets and you’re just unhappy with how the first tier set looks.

Definitely want more sets similar to df s3 and the t2 remake. They are peak DK design to me.
I didn’t mind df s2. Df s1 was meh, some good pieces to pick up for random mogs, but not very DK.
Would love to see more black/grey colouring for at least one of the recolours. Maybe the PVP version. In not usually into support bright colors on DK. And more skulls. Skulls should be involved in every set.
I will say that its good that they experimented with a unique approach for T29 but it just doesn’t feel like it was a right fit for our class and I will admit that I really didn’t like the design.
I don’t have an issue with them taking risks and implore them to; I just feel like it should fit our class. The current sets lack originality as in like them not putting in more effort into the set so that it looks different then the pervious ones. I do love the skulls and dark vibes.

Big problem I’ve always seen is ideas for DK armor are either ‘so many skulls we look like the Are We The Baddies? guy’ or ‘3rd ed 40k chaos marine covered with extra Spiky Bitz’. There’s no variety beyond that despite easy to see themes of necromancer, ice, or vampire that they could pull from. Hell, they could do a Drust theme wicker set that could look awesome and still fit our aesthetic.
Two limited styles of ‘bad guy skulls’ does not for good armor make.
The “t2” remake is pretty lacking comparatively to the other sets. The gloves are any generic plate gloves with some spikes thrown on them, same with the legplates, the helm is just judgement mixed with t19, the chest is generic plate chest.
I don’t know why they didn’t actually recreate our t2. It’s the second gear set we got as a DK. Sure they made it available to everyone in Naxx, but it’s far better in terms of detail than this new creation. This new set looks like some class based world quest reward.
They have made pretty big leaps in gear design they they could have done something pretty awesome with the original set but we get this bland mediocre generic plate set.
The warrior t2 remake looks more Death Knight than what the DK got except for maybe the helm.
With the T2 set I’ll finally be able to use something other than the T21 set for longer than a day.
Honestly, I like just more different styles of skulls, spikes and ragged cloth under plating, but that’s me. I don’t mind them experimenting new things.
I think the VotI set is pretty fire tbh. Everybody had “rocks” as their set. It’s the thematic of the raid. The shoulders are a little loud, that’d be my only complaint.
The Aberrus mog is pretty dope. I don’t know what you’re smoking. Individually the pieces are amazing. I’m rocking mixed blue Gladiator Amirdrassil + Aberrus, Mawsworn Sword and it’s the closest thing we can get to a modern lich king vibe.
