I would really love Centaur to be playable. I don’t think it will ever happen though, because they wont be able to wear a lot of armor or ride any mounts, unless they too had some kind of worgen/dracthyr style visage but that makes no sense lore wise.
I also really like all the races from Shadowlands. Especially the satyrs from Ardenweald. But I don’t really see any of those races going to Azeroth and joining the Horde or Alliance.
I’d also rather all the current allied races just be rolled into the main races as customization options, and then add Sethrak or something to the Alliance to balance out the Vulpera.
The game has too many races now, it doesn’t need more. What’s required is a better game.
From the Panda introduction until now, the game has been in steady decline, so creating more options for less and less players isn’t going to turn that around.
Since everyone has spoken now I am going to give my opinion:
-Murlocs will never be a playable race because they are so small in size and will always be battle pets.
-I don’t think Centaurs are playable either because they are controversial quadrupeds and the condition is that they have to adapt to spell-style mounts, armor, and humanoid beings.
-arrakoa Possibly it needs a redesign to be playable, having the mold of some playable race of the horde or the alliance, for example, the tuskarr can be a playable race because it has the dwarf mold.
-Harpy I don’t think that’s ever going to happen.
Leave Dracthyr as they are. Add Drakonid. All the muscle, size, and monstrousness you could want. Give them access to a bunch of tank classes. Then both sides of the playable dragon fantasy are fulfilled with neither side being compromised or Monkey Paw’d.
Tekken, you want tekken. edit: I think Blizzard needs a balance of what npc we only kill and others than we can play. Right now it’s stable but when the community starts to suggest all these random substitute races the immersion that we have is shattered. Most of the races now actually apply to lore and breathes a new life into what we can imagine our characters to be, the rest can be swept back under the rugs.
There be many things I wish for, but even now they not taking advantage of the great races we already have. Kultiran has so few customization, and looks at the fantastic beautiful outfits the citizens of Suramar wear, and yet all that is really available is a heritage and a couple of items.
Part of me loves Quilboars and their story. Don’t ask me why. Might be from the whole wereboar stuff from Elder scrolls, or maybe even anime like Spirited away. Quilboars are just cool.
Just curious why this is?
I think they make a perfect fit since they live very close to two Horde races that they’re on good terms with and even worked together with (vulpera and zandalari).
Their body shape is not too strange either, we have several races with tails already like the draenei, vulpera, tauren, dracthyr, etc. And the only gear slot that might have some gear problems are the head slot, and we’ve seen that blizzard is not afraid to hide a slot from view if they find the work to get it working to be too high, see mechagnomes and dracthyr. But even then I think headgear could be made to fit the sethrak, I’d say it would be about as much effort as making headgear fit tauren.
Or…we let some races be not playable and focus on improving the quality of the current races. Should not take several expansions to come out with heritage gear/quests.
