Odd Guardian Druid Question

I was on a little toon in a horrible horrible time walking as a healer. The tank kept folding and I noticed they never popped iron fur during the run - is that normal? I thought that was part of the regular rotation.

Thank you!

Either ironfur for defensive or maul for offensive to spend rage. I guess a smart player would’ve noticed they needed the defensive…

If you’re taking too much damage and your barkskin is still on CD, then yes ironfur. There’s another CD too–I forgot the name.

Orrrrr macro it into every ability, that way you never miss it.

there are about 4 damage reductions on a guardian druid.

I macro Ironfur to my rage generators so that I have almost 100% uptime on the increased armor.

Generally guardian druid should have 1 stack of ironfur at all times.

Thank you everyone. I was not confused (lol).

Not using iron fur is silly, because there is a talent to make it deal damage it’s great on AOE.

It’s funny because baseline druids have the lowest AC but with ironfur also the highest

I keep Ironfur up at all times. Not using it means you have a very inexperienced Bear player.

Perhaps he was attempting the talent build where maul and thrash give an absorb shield, but still…. I would still use ironfur. It’s nice having the aoe damage attached to it. It’s pretty easy to maintain too

It’s very normal for people who don’t know what they’re doing, yes.

Perhaps you are thinking of Frenzied Regeneration? Converts rage into a HoT.

Iron fur should have close to 100% uptime and be your main rage spender

Sounds like a new tank. I had one like that today. He died so many times and then laughed and said he was boosted… Yeah, we all know lol

Iron Fur is used to boost armour which helps mitigate physical damage, but at the cost of rage which can be used on Frenzied Regeneration which can offset the incoming damage.

You try to keep atleast 1 stack of IF up, but if the mobs are hitting hard, the rage is better spent on Frenzied Regen and tying it with Bark Skin for better damage mitigation.

It’s also meant to be stacked.

A bear tank with a single stack of Ironfur up has about as much armor as a Prot Warrior standing there /afk

You need to do more than keep up 1 stack of Ironfur as a bear if you want to have meaningful mitigation.

iron fur is the guardian druids active mitigation as a tank. If hes dying and not having iron fur stacks up then its tanks fault. The only excuse of not having iron fur up is if the tank is not taking that much damage in trivial content, it could be ignored so the rage can be spent mauling
