US Player here: Tried an AV earlier and it took the entire battleground 10 seconds to loot insignia supplies and anything capped stayed capped both sides because the server lag was weighing on everyone. Also it was night time for our little group on our server despite the fact our server time was Noon lol
I think human perception is broken when it comes to RvR or RvD. Much in the same way WOTF is to Spriest / Lock / Warrior.
25% stun resist is nuts, though.
Regardless, Oceanic probably represents a drop in the ocean compared to our U.S counterparts. Unsubscribing means less incentive to keep Oce servers running anyway and eventual shut down of these facilities. Conversely, by us continuing to play the game through the lag, they see no incentive to revert this decision. This is a company that is all dollar signs at the cost of user convinience.
A Megathread of 1.6k responses has only warranted 1 Blizz post and with no further comment. I’ve seen this before, and I doubt any further change will be made.
Absolutely awful change. I was just stuck in an AV on an Oceanic server with 200+ ping and it was a complete joke. This needs to be reverted immediately.
I mean I don’t like lag either but that’s a stretch, it’s worked this way in retail for 15 years and no rank 1 oce players have ever said 200 ping is a deciding factor, in fact Chanimals always says ping is just an excuse.
Also keep in mind it randomly chooses a host server from the players in the bg/arena so it’s 50/50 in arena, nobody can exploit the queues.
Wow didn’t even consider that, but yup that’s something bad will do for EZ rating and then those same people will claim they’re good saying “look at my rating” when in reality they didn’t really earn it at all.

Yes, chanimals has consistently beaten the best players in the world with 200 ping for 10 years. 200 ping is not a deciding factor in arena, 300+ is where it gets bad.
I get it feels bad to play after how smooth oceanic servers are but it absolutely won’t hinder your rating.
Lets be real 90% of the people commenting in this thread will be hard stuck 1550 anyway
Well we did light them up when they attempted S4 reward values for arena.
I have another fear for arena;; the retail system has an artificial ceiling where you can’t progress any further creating a situation where top teams stop playing and start selling carries on alts…
You need 1500 players if you want to get games, you need the 1500 players in an economy of points or it will be like retail with gladiators @ 1600 because no one playing…

Issue with Dialup is if your mum calls someone on the home phone* you get DC’d.
Are you claiming he has special internet that negated his oceanic > US ping while he was getting rank 1 for years?
Nope, I’m claiming that he uses high speed internet because it provides an advantage. In arenas, you take any advantage you can get. And having 0.2s quicker reaction speeds are a definite advantage. Just because he can get R1 with 200ms doesn’t mean it isn’t easier to achieve that R1 easier with better ping.

PvP is volatile, it’s based on positioning, reaction time and reading the play as it happens.
PvE is scripted, you can anticipate the next sequence based on targets health % with a stationary boss in the centre of the room. As such, ping isn’t a heavy requirement.
For PvP, ping is everything. It can mean the difference between a win and a loss. A proper juke when casting or being kicked when trying to fake cast. Good players, and I mean cream of the crop will be able to perceive and predict gameplay patterns which they may have learnt to deal with due to lag, but having two people of equal skill where one will have an artificial delayed reaction can inevitably make or break a match.
