Remulos will be fine. Come along to the Classic WoW Oceania Discord guys if you aren’t already in 
now recognised as the Official Discord for our region.
It’s not going to be as popular as Arugal but it’ll still have a healthy population.

Gotta remember what old school wow was like. Close knit people touching base, forming groups, keeping the ninja’s in line.
We have the added support now of Blizz friends list which will make things easier.
My main concern would be over “is the player base going to stay”. I’d say a few will drop off early with how diff the game will be (cant blaze through it), and then for the same reason the rest will stay.
There is a big bunch of us in the exact boat as you.
I’m looking forward to it, even for the constant “tank?” whispers.

I had Amava (NE Hunter) and Bonovox (Human Priest) as my main characters during TBC. I later renamed Bonovox to Niven. (I have both names on Remulos, along with Fitz).

Remulos will be fine. Blizz already said a medium realm on classic is going to be larger than any server in 2006. There is going to be plenty of people.
So far we are only accounting for people who paid a sub to reserve names. Trust me, there are many people out there who don’t give a shiz about names and will wait until launch day. There are only 2 oceanic realms, they will both be bustling. I’m personally going to be rolling arugal but made a char on remulos just in case that goes bits up lol.
My wife and I will be on Remulos.
Casual PvE environment. Hopefully some small scale wPvP here and there like the old days (Crossroads, Hillsbrad Foothills).
BG’s will be cross realm, right? OCE only? or mixed with NA as well?

I’m playing Remulos with my partner and we are both in NZ.
I wouldn’t worry about population. Blizzard had said that even a realm listed as “low” today is larger than the population of any of the original vanilla servers by a fair amount.
They have also said that even servers with s medium pop are likely to have queues of some degree.
