Obtaining Rank 3 Essences on Alts

Actually, what happened in Legion was everybody got 1000 wakening essences in their mythic+ box on implementation of that system, even people who hadn’t run a mythic+ that week .

In 7.3.5…

When the currency was around since 7.2…

Where the legendary RNG tokens costed 1000…

And grinding tokens took weeks to get 1000 because WQ dropped only 5-35 based upon the quest…

And Mission boards only dropped 10-20…

And the only ways to get the 250 drops were your weekly M+ chest or by having your Command Center up for a RNG rare mission board on the Broken shore…

Honesty was excited about the system to use it in conjunction with the way to get rank 3 normally. I figured I might be able to get my current 4 slotted essences upgraded this week.

Okay so I noticed something. I have rank 3 blood of the enemy on 2 characters but since those dont have tank specs i can’t get rank 3 sphere of suppression on them does that mean i’m going to have to grind out the 30k honor on a tank character to get rank 3 sphere of suppression on all my tanks?

That’s apparently what Blizzard wants you to do… They only account wide unlocked role specific essences from Nazjatar/Mechagone rep, rest of such essences should be unlocked on at least one char normally before available to alts. Ofc this makes no sense, but it works this way…

Please extend Account Wide Essences to Other Roles for the Remaining Ones

TLDR; The new system ONLY unlocks the specific essences you have unlocked on your main. So if you main a pure dps, you have to do the same exact M+, Eternal Palace, 30k Honor, Nyalotha, Horrific Visions, and N’zoth Assault grind AGAIN on a hybrid class capable of getting heal/tank essences. This is overly punishing to people who mained a pure DPS during the time alts were near impossible to play, as well as being counter productive to the fact this system is supposed to let us grind current con…

Probably the same thing happened to others, but I logged onto my alt first at 8am PST this morning b/c I was excited to get things started for her only to find I didn’t get currency. She’s the only char who needs this that I’m playing and now I’m locked from the system? Am I reading this correctly?

it should only lock you out from the locked activities if you did the locked activities

Triala, I hope not. I did the same thing. They didn’t mention anything about logging on to your main before logging on to you alts. I hope they right this wrong.

I like the overall design of this system and am generally someone who likes the game. But this implementation- with people missing out because they logged into the wrong character first, is terrible. Bad marks to those who designed it to work that way and to the CMs who failed to get the information out ahead of time.

That’s how I feel about the implementation. Very glad the new system is in place and I’ve already saved one alt many weeks of waiting, but the way it was rolled out is very disappointing.

What a WIN with this system! We can power up our alts without grinding weeks of old content and at the same time not just have it handed to us. Thank you Blizz, keep this momentum going into Shadowlands.

Leaves me to wonder… What am I to do with these Echoes on my main? I get all of this currency…and can do nothing with it?

Also, its rather odd that my main with 11 essences sitting rank 3…I talk to MOTHER and only 3 of those 11 are even unlocked that I could purchase. Not quite sure why that is.

I think it’s an acceptable compromise.

HOWEVER, until they make the healing/tank essences available if you’ve unlocked the DPS essence (or DPS if you’ve unlocked healer/tank), I won’t renew.

They’re literally punishing people who main pure DPS.

question so if I logged into my alt (without knowing i had to log into my main first) and did an Black Empire Assault and 1 horrific vision I will not earn the Echoes and I basically skrew myself of x amount of currency? cause I checked and I did not earned any currency…

The way it works now:

1. log into a character that has a rank 3 essence
2. log into another character that has a different rank 3 essence
3. you /should/ be eligible for echos on any character that doesnt have those essences. It would help if blizzard would explain in more detail exactly what you have to do to garuntee that you get them, but hey, small indie company amirite?

im in game, first i log in wiht the main, then the 2nd chatacter that is tank and healer, none a single alt can buy it, al with the red message "you have to have it unlocked with another character"buging as intended.

I’ll get more than one a week, but so far yeah I’ve cashed in the echoes that one character has gotten since this morning for an essence that would have taken much longer to get. So that was nice.
