Or… you just have an unrealistic expectation to be able to maintain 12 characters at maximal levels of play. If that’s your plan, then I wouldn’t recommend an MMORPG. Maybe try a MOBA or class based shooter like Overwatch/TF2?
Don’t get me wrong, I was a big proponent for account bound essences… But if you’re planning on playing 12 character and maintaining them all at a Heroic/Mythic level of play… At that point… we’d have to have WoD levels of character progression.
I’m not really into that. I’m fine with this compromise.
Been playing since BC, try again. If we’re going back to that, then we also have to go back to the gearing systems of the past, where gear didn’t rain from the skies and people weren’t getting heroic geared in less than a week into the tier. Why? Because back then the gear WAS the progression. Gear was your sole form of character power progression. Since gear is literally EVERYWHERE (aside from the tippy top)… they added additional routes of power progression to allow us to continue to build our characters.
Want an expansion that had gearing almost as fast as Legion/BfA, but also had zero other forms of character progression? WoD. How’d that expansion turn out?
How about we go back to BC times then… when maintaining 2 characters at BT+ levels was incredibly hard, let alone the prior poster wanting TWELVE.
this game hasnt been an MMO since BC. When you have such boring systems, ‘alts’ can be the only way to enjoy playing. Blizz goes halfway on being an action and MMO, yet still picks the worst of both
I like the overall design of this system and am generally someone who likes the game. But this implementation- with people missing out because they logged into the wrong character first, is terrible. Bad marks to those who designed it to work that way and to the CMs who failed to get the information out ahead of time.
That’s not really how the system works. This feature is not intended to allow you to buy any R3 essence you want. You have to have already earned it on one of your characters first. Additionally, you have to log in on that character for it to be available for your other characters (that don’t have it) to purchase. In your case, assuming you don’t have Vision of Perfection R3 already learned on one of your other characters, you’re still going to have to do so before any of your other characters can obtain it with Echoes.
Another way of saying it is…Echoes can only be earned by characters that are missing essences your other characters have, and only those essences can be obtained this way. While the rollout of the system was awful, the system was never intended to allow us to skip the original acquisition of essences entirely. The system is making it so we only have to do it once, and can then earn the essences on other characters while playing 8.3 content instead of re-grinding the original sources.
Per their response to another subscriber’s Twitter post, they are doing nothing about players who didn’t log onto their R3 mains before logging onto alts and received no currency.
So I missed out on mine from my 12 chest cause I logged on my alt first to open his weekly cache. Usually keep my main for last for the most excitement/disappointment.
