Obtaining Rank 3 Essences on Alts

Excuse me, but what the heck is wrong with this company? How are we STILL grinding something to earn something we’ve ALREADY EARNED.

Same. my hunter opened pvp cache, did major and minor invasion. Got nothing. So, thanks blizz for “almost” getting it right. I do like the concept (a bit expensive but that is not bad) but seriously? To collect the currency log onto ALL toons with rank 3 essences. ALL my toons have ranks 3 crucible, does that count?

Yea haha, I didnt mean to sound like I was attacking you. I was just saying that this is A) either an absolutely shot job of trying to code this from some dev, or B) Due to the absolute ancient block of code sitting at the heart of their database, this was the only way to implement this feature, and no one was made aware of having to log into all rank 3 owning toons first.

As usual, you guys miss the mark by implementing Arbitrary systems that add literally nothing but more grinding and time gating. I really, really wanted to say “Hey, thanks for listening guys!” But you guys hear things.

And then go and do something different and expect people to be satisfied. We already unlocked the Essences. Locking them behind this secondary grind, no matter how simple, is pathetic. It was uncalled for. You guys really missed it…Again.

I hope Shadowlands will have less of this garbage.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but what you appear to be not including is that you have to do all this multiplied by the number of alts you want to have the essences on.
In my case, I have to generate 20,512 (based on your numbers) to get those three esssences on my alts. Now, of course that’ll never happen, I’m deliberately pushing an extreme example, but I think my point is this…I don’t mind doing the content…I would just much rather do it only 2 or 3 times.

I think 200-250 would have been reasonable. Thats a black empire assault+minor assault+a vision.

Good thing I only renewed for a month. Totally useless to have another currency to farm just to get essences on the alts.

Honestly when it comes to coding and programming, I don’t trust anything to ever be 100% perfect. Especially a video game. I know it can be a pain in the butt, but name one game you’ve ever played that you, or anyone else, have never seen something wrong happen? Even games with thorough testing still have a plethora of bugs that just didn’t appear during alphas and betas. With as many people as this game has, it’s unsurprising that we wouldn’t see something go wrong with this fix. But granted, missing out on only 200 echoes is not the end of the world.

And then a raid clear on top of that would literally be a second essence instantly. And a few M+'s with the M+ weekly chest would be a third essence. And the weekly cache + some some Arena/BG, would be a fourth essence at that cost.

Honestly, you’re making a mountain out of an anthill. You can easily net 1 essence a week doing the bare minimum of 8.3 weekly content. Doing everything else and you can easily double that…

Long story short… if you want your alt to progress… then play. your. alt.

This is not a bug.

The point of the system is to not allow players to bank currencies if they do not have any eligible essences to buy.

They way they rolled it out and did not explain the ramifications is the problem - I really do not care about the constraints or costs of resources of the system, personally.

And by no means am I downplaying the fact that this will still be a bit of a grind if you have several alts you want to play consistently, but I think a lot of people have lost the sense of “this is an alt. It does not need to be as powerful as my main.” The difference between a wrong and right essence is a very small percentage in healing or damage numbers compared to having correct rotations, stat prioritizing, correct azerite traits, etc.

Oh? Are the echo’s specific to each essence? Are you saying that echo’s I earn on my alt will not be allowed to be used on that alt, if I open up new rank 3’s on my main? Cause that would indeed be different.

That’s not how I’m viewing their post. I’m seeing it as you need to log onto your main so that the system flags your account to indicate that said account has unlocked specific rank 3 essences. As such then when you go to your alts, it’ll recognize them as such and start dropping you echo’s.

Personally, I think that’s a bit silly. Just drop the echo’s anyway. It’s not like you could use them anyway if you don’t have the rank 3’s unlocked on another character.

I don’t think many of us were planning on raiding or expect to get invited to M+ with alts that don’t have proper preparations. Thats what mains are for.

“Bare minimum of weekly content” is actually very time consuming if you are planning on playing your main as well. An alt is just that, an alt. Time is a valuable commodity. The supposed bare minimum of weekly content you talk about adds up, especially if you have multiple alts plus a main.

I have 12 classes I want to play. Using your theory I’m lazy apparently.

Oh, absolutely. A development team pales into comparison to the throngs of people that will play a game. Things will be missed, just because a playerbase provides a far larger testing pool than the game creators could ever produce on their own.

This doesn’t seem like one of those things that should have fallen through the cracks, though. This is fundamental to how you get the currency that this change is all about. That feels like something that really should have been tested, known about and either fixed or made known.

I can excuse something more esoteric than that, especially when you get people actively searching every corner of the map for things. This one doesn’t come close to reaching that, for me. And sure, it’s only 100/200/300 missed essences for people. It’s still missing out on something they actively did work towards and are being told “well, too bad” about. The total isn’t so much the point as the lack of care in response from those who can respond to us.

All it says is to log in to a character with rank 3 essences.

I have a character with a rank 3 essence that didn’t get any echoes.

I mean, we can seem to understand that…but the small indie company just doesnt seem to have the metrics for it I guess.

The system is designed exactly the way they wanted it to be designed. They apparently like giving players the “opportunity” to make unrecoverable mistakes because of lack of available information.

8.3 is the alpha for Shadowlands. The movement is away from making it possible to catch up and toward making it impossible for a player who didn’t play patch 1 to ever catch up.

This is the argument I call “If you don’t play 12 times as much as I do you’re lazy.”
