Then this change isn’t meant for you. The whole point of this system is for those that actually played the game on one character and want an easier time doing it again on an alt.
This isn’t something meant for someone like you who barely played and didn’t do any of the content.
It says in the post “Any player who is eligible to purchase at least one Essence from MOTHER will now receive Echoes of Ny’alotha from a wide range of activities in current content.” If you’ve already unlocked every rank 3 on your account attainable by that character that you’ve already unlocked at least once, then you won’t receive any currency.
I’m surprised - this almost feels like a decision from a completely different team. I was expecting some kind of agonising grind, but the sources and quantity of echoes actually seems like a reasonable compromise. Thanks.
Oh, definitely, they should do that, but the fact they haven’t tells me they don’t want such an ‘easily fast’ solution, thus my proposal; takes longer to ramp up, but is still very useful.
As for Paragon, all they really need to do is make it so the Paragon reputation isn’t increased by the gains like Neutral to Exalted is.
I feel the same way. Even more annoying is that if your alt is already at higher level content they are rewarded far more which is unnecessary because if they are already doing that content they will already, probably, have earned the essences.
I guess the point with that is that you already unlocked the rank 3 hence the availability.
Why would they be available to those who didn’t unlock/earn them?
Of course it could be better but it’s definitely a step forward, the biggest improvement is the reduction in repeated old, unrewarding content, at least the content you now do to re-unlock them is current content that you would want to be doing.
Personally I would have liked to see all 8.2 essences simply be available in this way regardless of unlock, however I do understand why they made the requirement of having unlocked them previously.
Edit:
Personally I also really like this system, although to be honest I think the fact it was available at revered not exalted was a bit silly. It effectively made exalted negligible as it required less rep than revered iirc.
If implemented again I would honestly be happy to see it done for an exalted reward simply to assist alts, at which stage I feel they could reasonably even increase the bonus as it would only directly affect alts.
Would have been nice if we can earn it on mains and pass it to alts. Guess with how pathetic my alts are they won’t be clearing mythic 10 or heroic raid bosses anytime soon it would almost be quicker to just do the damn original grind…
Wouldn’t want to actually just make it account wide like everyone wanted, better add an arbitrary currency to farm and drain more time from people wanting to play an alt.
Way to “fix” the problem you yourselves created when players told you how flawed it was before it released, just like azerite armor and not having a cap on the neck.
It’s almost like you guys never learn from your mistakes.
You do know you don’t have to do a +10, right? Or heroic raids. It drops from normal and any m+ level. You can get 1 rank 3 a week just doing 2 assaults and emissaries. Which rank 3 are you going to get in less than a week with the original requirements?
And if they did that you would call blizz greedy because you could pay to get 120, get ilvl 450 in a couple days and have full rank 3 essences. You would accuse them of promoting pay to win
I think u make a lot of assumptions in that post. And i also think they are wrong.
But we can never find out whether one of us is right so no point arguing about em.at least theres no point for me. I appreciate ur response tho.
Well, doing a little math, these numbers aren’t bad at all. For someone like me, if I really commit to an alt, I can likely get 2 rank 3 essences a week.
Well, it’s still grinding but definitely nowhere near as bad as the other way around, it’s not like people aren’t doing all that content anyways so it’s pretty good I guess?
Essences are not akin to gear, in my view, as some argue. Character progression via grinding essences is not properly comparable to grinding gear.
Essences are replacements for class abilities and talents that Blizz removed during WoD/Legion/BfA, and which our classes need to function normally at max level. (In other words, if I had all of my class abilities back that Blizz pruned/nerfed over the years, I wouldn’t need essences, but I would still progress through gear improvements.)
These are abilities that we would have normally had upon achieving level 120, but no longer do, because of Blizz’s shift to character progression external to class design.
I dislike the essence system. Lots of people dislike the essence system. While this change makes it generally a little less bad for alts, it’s not nearly enough to get me to start playing alts again. It’s disappointing.
