If we are at the bridge we already lost.
That patch made it so that if you had a GY anywhere in the BG it would give preference to that instead of the Cave. In vanilla, you had areas that a GY covers. If you are within that area it should prioritize the captured GY. Currently it does not and prioritizes how close you are the the spirit healer. I.e. if you die at SP or IB you should rez at DB or FW.
It was noticed nearly immediately and a bunch of people said something. However, Blizzard turned a blind eye to it. As they do to many issues with Classic.
Not true, you could defend and push south simultaneously from the bridge.
Unfortunately the screwed up gy order removes that opportunity.
Since we can’t be south cuz of the horde cave graveyard, if all of us are stuck up north, we lost.
Can’t kill Drek on defense.
No idea how it worked when, but I can say with a high degree of confidence that patch notes for software only mention intended changes in behavior, and not even all of those. I can also say with absolute certainty that any change to existing software has a non-trivial chance of introducing unintended changes in behavior, of varying degrees of severity.
So you are saying that it unintentionally changed, then was fixed and the fix was put into the patch notes not as a bug fix but as an intentional change to the behavior of the map. Without any mention of reversion or that it was fixing a bug/unintended change…
Yes patch notes are not infalible or complete but that is still a HUGE stretch to expect that over your memory from 15 years is wrong.
it also assumes that devs which have been checking the refrence client have not taken the 10mins it would take to confirm this which it has been reported and it would be a 100% reproducible problem.
It all just strikes as a conspiracy level stretch to get to that over the fact that it is behaving as it did in vanilla and someone is misremembering things from 15 years ago.
Prior to 2.3.0, defensive GYs essentially had an effective range that made it so you’d only rez at the cave if you controlled no defensive GYs. You could still rez at the cave if you died in your base and the closest GY you controlled was Snowfall.
Beginning with patch 2.3.0, it didn’t matter what GY you controlled - if you controlled any GY, defensive or not, you would not rez at the cave. This meant that capping the relief hut or aid station no longer would send defenders to the cave and would instead send them to offense.
What we have now is neither of those things. It seems you just rez at either your cave or the nearest GY, whichever was closest do your place of death.
Are you serious? As someone who has been a software developer and tester for decades I can assure you that complete testing of any piece of software that accepts the most trivial of inputs and has the most rudimentary complexity is impossible. Sure, it might just take 10 minutes to test this one specific thing in this one specific scenario. There are literally infinite combinations of parameters that each “just take 10 minutes”. Turns out, infinity * 10 is a pretty large number. No developer can test everything. Period.
If you think I’m just spouting nonsense, try Google: “complete software testing possible”. Chances are the very first link you’ll get is wikipedia, which says:
And you’ll find many, many other similar links.
Well, other than the random rezzing at the cave, but that was simply a bug.
Hello friends, 2 week update here.
AV has gotten a point where:
- The entire Alliance team are fresh 60 alts who are rep farming, and about 1/5th are non-60s.
- Seeking a win has become very rare because of this
- People are content with losing and getting 1k-1.5k rep per
- The favoured strategy is to turtle at SHGY and do turn-ins when Alliance eventually collapses to the main base
- Honour farmers/rankers are not present
Horde side:
- Long queues and a near-guaranteed win means that honour farmers are present.
- The Horde rankers’ collective sweat turns into a tidal wave that washes down upon the Alliance fresh 60 rep farmers in cardboard armour.
Conclusion: Seeking wins in a lead AV is now only possible during AV weekend
Cadia Grievous? Or someone else?
you fight a shaman in Av with wotf impressive,
Grievous the 12 second Christ, Herald of Paladincraft, Saviour of Paladinkind, he who hearthed when this world was young, the Accuser, the Sunderer of Guilds, Supreme Commander of the Invisible Hand, Grievous of Dragonmaw
“hmm his argument makes sense. Let me point out the part that doesnt to me and say ‘you fight a shaman in av with WOTF impressive’ even though he doesnt state that these fights are occurring in AV. Better disregard the parts of the argument that are valid”
