The individual experience and enjoyment is a secondary concern… or probably better to say it’s effectively off the developers (and the playerbase’s) radar as far as priorities go. If you’re doing more damage than before, that’s the end goal. And with that, we have the crux of our problem - it’s prioritizing performance and results over enjoyment of doing the activity. A consequence of WoW’s HEAVILY reward-driven structure, unfortunately.

Breaking this detail is… not easy, and as you said, the one-button thing is the metaphorical “elephant in the room” that you have to deal with. Even if you completely cut out things which track your damage output, you still get the general sense of what’s going on through things how long it takes enemies to fall over. You have to be a bit defiant and stubborn to push the concerns aside and stick to what you want to do… but yeah, it’s still going to be that nagging little voice in your head.

Yes this is a perfect encapsulation with how I feel. Thank you for describing it better than I could.

Yeah I’ve seen their other threads. They are obsessed with this one topic and it’s Sunday.

I make plenty of other threads. They just don’t get any attention because people love to argue about OBR.
