trash lore and they cut a raid tier
This expansion created the most amount of outrage.
ill give it a solid 2, only cuz they buffed outlaw at the end
I rate it about -15, which is slightly worse than BFA’s -14
Yah i honestly feel like i give credit where credit is due.
I also liked chromie time. It was a long time coming. With so much content being added to the game for leveling over the years, it was kind of nice to be able to pick your own paths. Through your favorite zones or dungeons while leveling up.
My biggest dissapointment was just the fact that i loved the original classic wow 1-60 overworld, and this was not included for chromie time. I think the other thing that bugged me was just the fact that there was no new class added.
When it comes to story, and all that, i mean, i play zelda games for cryin out loud. I honestly remember playing wow for the first time not really knowing what the story was, or really anything about the warcraft universe. The gameplay and alot of the other things is what made wow fun for me.
I think that class designs also were ok in shadowlands as well. Although they could have been better. Blizzard just overpruned and deleted so much stuff in the game over the years. It would have been nice to really see every single ability that classes had over the years come back. Volley for hunters is still missing for example. As is the tornadoe summoning move on druids.
Dragonflight looks really good so far, and i am hyped. But shadowlands i would give like a 3.8 out of 5. The zones were cool. Torghast was ok. I do wish that the dungeons were unlocked as soon as you hit 60. They were kind of a pain to unlock in shadowlands. The story was also extremely messy, but there was enough going to keep me hooked. Favorite zone was maldraxxus.
The story has become a lot more important. It’s not something that can be swept under the rug
I mean if you’re going to write a story, why not write a good one. No excuse really
2.6 / 5
In order from best to worst imo:
1.5/5.
Travel is annoying. I wind up going afk regularly if I want to get from the covenant sanctum to Oribos or anywhere else. The portal to ZM helps, but travel between the original zones needs to be portals between Oribos and the covenant sanctums, not flight masters where I click on them and alt-tab or go afk.
Borrowed power gameplay systems drop the rating considerably. If the covenants weren’t tied to player power then I would think they were ok. Covenants for cosmetics is fine. Covenants for player power is not. The limit for me would be something like the Kyrian steward where it’s nice to have but has no impact on player power. I would like to see the steward remain after 10.0 (and soulshape as well).
I like the aesthetics of Ardenweald, the night fae in general, and ZM. I find the Queen’s Conservatory interesting. Tier gear from multiple types of content is good as well. This is why it’s a 1.5/5 instead of a 1/5.
There are far too many currencies. It’s ridiculous. Blizz needs to trim down the number of currencies next xpac. Let us choose which activities to do (from different patches) to earn currencies. Korthian relics are clogging up my inventory because I haven’t unlocked the NPC to turn them in - those are better off in the currency tab instead of taking up inventory space. The Korthian relic turn in needs to be earlier in the Korthia questline.
I’m not liking having to get the souls from the maw to upgrade my covenant sanctum. I hate the maw. Games are supposed to be fun, and making hell inside the game (where it feels like hell and it’s a place I want to avoid) is not fun.
Hate to keep harping on it but the dreadlords got old. this was a very weak device to base story on.
hahaha…you can’t see me.
Dh’s can. It was the entire basis to the opening of legion. You Dh’s go to capital. find dreadlords, kill dreadlords. Now horde and alliance really want the legion dead.
they made it personal. well more personal. First they killed the faction leaders . then they tried to kill the replacements. Now…now you done ticked us off legion.
Part of the scenarios for the story…we get goggles to see them. then they are completely forgotten about.
and then this “you can’t see us” was used many times after.
OMG…a dreadlord is in the arbiter’s chamber. Shocked pikachu face!
mall walker…you told us to come here in ZM.
No I did…oh wait. then we see the dreadlord again.
surprised it was me?
No dude. this plot is so thin Stevie wonder can see through it.
Yup. It’s so bad
Most of the time it was a 3 maybe a 4 sometimes game play wise for me.
Story was 1-2 most of the time, my biggest complaint about the expansion was the story, I did not like it and it sucked the interest out of the game.
This xpac made me quit for a year. Some of the cons is a big deal for me. So it gets a 2.
One of the supposed selling points to Dragonflight are things like account-wide rep being the default. I have no idea if they’ll make that retroactive though or if it only pertains to factions from DF and onward. Even then I’m not sure how that’d address something like cypher weapons since it’s a questline unlock.
0.5, half a percent. Some minor points were fun, but they were so brief it was not noticeably worth mentioning. Arguably if the community is the foundation of an MMORPG, and you lose the vast majority of it, then it becomes less fun. The content was barren, the story wasn’t worth it, my favorite class and spec got hit with the nerf slug barrel twelve gauge, and became unbearable up until 9.2.5 (DK). A good portion of my friends quit, guilds i’m friends with vanished, I felt forced to swap factions because of it. The meaningless grind didn’t help much either with domination sockets, as they too became insignificant. It disrespected players time and effort by stripping it away. This is largely where I became more casual, and of a solo player despite some group participation once in a while. I wasn’t impressed with the endless time gates. For all the time they spent creating gated content, they could have created actual content.
Beefore 9.2? 2.5. Didnt enjoy anything aside the facts i had pvp vendors.
After 9.2? 3.2 -3.5, now i can actually play alts.
It could’ve easily started a 3.5 though.
I dont rate lore nor care about it for online games They are way too generic.
2/5
Now if the game released like it is now with the awesome anima gains it would have been so much better. I still haven’t completed more than one covenant fully because of anima burnout. Such a shame.
Some good things…
3.5-4
Now before the keyboard warriors start marching on let me explain myself, Because I can already hear the thunderous sound of their keys in the distance, Calm thyselves.
Castle Nathria was downright cool, It wasn’t ulduar levels or ICC levels or BT levels but it was cool, Daddy Denathrius was also cool.
I liked the covenants but I feel like they held back and their balance team sucks at their job (And let’s be honest when have they not sucked at their damn jobs? 8.2/3 fire mages anyone? Bc rogues anyone? Double DPS arcane mages in wrath Anyone? annnnnnd so on…)
As a Primarily M+ player and a Roleplayer, The RP remains the same as per usual because we make and build our own stories but a major downfall of this expansion was it’s story Post Denathrius
I’ll put it in bold for everyone to hear even in the back It sucked
As for M+ things? I don’t outright ~HATE~ a specific dungeon Like I did in BFA, All of them play pretty smoothly and for the most part you can pretty much play any class/spec you want and your good until about 18s wich means balance isn’t completely awful outside of Moonkins, Destro warlocks(9.2.5), Fire mages (Early 9.0) Survival hunters (9.2.5)
Sanctum sucked and has to be the most depressing color pallette in existence but from the few times i’ve bothered to walk into Sepulchre it’s been pretty cool.
End of the day? 3-3.5 Probably not a 4, M+ carried this expansion because Sanctum much like the story…
SUCKED AND PLEASE GOD DONT EVER DO IT AGAIN
I am cautiously Optimistic about Dragonflight, The design team says they’ve turned over a new leaf, But at the same time they obliterated elemental shaman at the start of 9.2.5 for “accessibility issues” And then remained silent for nearly 2 months and gave the tiniest buff that didn’t even remotely fix what they obliterated while also allowing Destro warlock to become a jank fest, Survival hunter to become a jank fest and for paladin tanks to completely outclass EVERYONE
eeeh hhee haaaaaaa
onety point fifty hehe
4/5. It probably would have been lower had I answered before 9.1.5, but I think the patches have saved a lot of it. Now it’s a lot more reasonable and actually fun to play. I enjoyed the story, everything art-related was fantastic as usual.
I didn’t enjoy so much Maw stuff. When we got a new zone and it was Korthia I felt my motivation slipping away. I also felt like we were bogged down with too many systems and currencies. Like, I still don’t understand the point of Grateful Offerings. They exist to frustrate me.
But yeah. Since some of the fixes which I think were pretty darn good I was able to appreciate a lot of the rest, and with some breathing room, I really am enjoying it.
